View Full Version : Kings fire Mike Brown

Pretty lame tbh. He wasnt the problem there. The roster has defensive limitations a coach cant fix. Sabonis gagged in his one playoff series two years ago otherwise they beat the Warriors and then who knows what happens. Monk has missed time this season. DeRozan wasnt an ideal addition, not that hes been playing bad but it was just weird fit to begin with. They just lost to Detroit last night because Fox fouled a three point shooter when the Kings were up 3 with 10 seconds to play and it turned into a game winning four point play :facepalm
Nothing Ive seen from them the last three years that suggests coaching is the issue. Ffs they just gave him an extension THIS JUNE :oldlol:
I honestly find this shocking. Not only that yet another team is now gonna pay a guy to sit at home for basically a full contract (extension) term, but that they think this move solves anything basketball wise right now.
It's a bummer. Brown's one of the more likable coaches out there.

Until Vivek sells the team, nothing is gonna change. Not that I care. F*ck the Queens
Teams gives player big contact. Teams trades players after one season.
Teams hired HC. HC wins COY. Team fires HC not too long after.
NBA is run like a bunch of idiots that post on ISH. Why is this stuff accepted? Flat out dumb move by Sac.

These coach firings are crazy.
I remember him leading the kings where they ran in circles over the warriors during the play-ins aka losers bracket earlier this year.
Steve kerr is very lucky to have not gotten fired yet until now. But then again, he spearheaded the warriors to become a dynasty.

Byron Scott, Budenholzer, Duane Casey, Mike brown, Monty Williams…
Seems like winning the COTY award carries a certain curse with it.

I have to say, I'm surprised how underwhelming the Kings are doing this year. I thought with DeRozan they'd be a little bit better than last year. The coach might not be the only reason for their woes, but they need to do something different.

It doesn't surprise me at this point.
The Bucks last year fired Adrian Griffin after a 30-13 start then had a worse record under Rivers afterwards. Organizations are stupid sometimes.
Brown was the scapegoat.

Change coaches, trade Fox and do a soft rebuild while keeping Sabonis. The Fox+Sabonis experiment hasn't worked for the past three seasons. Fox has one year left on his contract after this season for $37 million. Sabonis is going to be hard to move I think because he's under contract until 27-28 for nearly $50 million a year by that point.

Owner is clueless and involves himself in operations. Gms have been duds. No leadership on the Kings team. Fox for as good as he is? Lacks leadership qualities. Team needs to add that. Mike brown is not without blame/fault. Questionable rotations and who he chooses to play. But that’s not enough to warrant a firing. It’s the punk way out. The issues still exist. Kings have been a laughing stock collecting welfare lottery picks until Brown showed up. Kings issues are deeper than finding a new voice/coach. They deserve to continue being a lottery team. Owner needs to sell team or mind his business with bball operations. Vlade Divac was another dud Gm as well. And while McNair did a good job collecting talent. The team still lacked size and defensive presence at the rim. And again….leaders. What a joke of a franchise.

There's basically no way to make a team good unless you get lucky and have someone break out. Even if they do end up looking like a contender, going the next step to actually being one is even harder. Kings have been trash forever.
They gotta hope they get a draft pick. Their roster is one of those rosters with players playing a tier above where they should be imo. Like number 2s and number 1s, etc. Derozan is never gonna live that shit down where Toronto won without him. Sure, they had Kawhi, but it still fux him. Even Lowry was able to shed his rep. Derozan is still a bum. They picked him up as if they planned on contending.
I dunno what they are gonna do with Fox and Sabonis, but I imagine they keep. They need a good wing, tho. They can't trade Derozan for anything of worth, so what do they do? Maybe they can pretend people are injured and tank. I think the coach firing is just their way of giving up on the season.
They also seem like an exceptionally trash 3 point shooting team.

I am surprised how fast coaches get fired. It used to be power-play by the players, nowadays it looks as if it is power-play by the GMs.

It's much easier to fire a coach and bring in another than get rid of a player. Supposedly Brown got fired via phone call while driving. Players have to be traded( so you need a willing partner), agree to buy-outs or wait till they're free agents.

Kings have one of the best big men in the league, but they don't play through him enough and just chuck 3s like any other teams.

What Sacramento really needs is an elite paint protector who can play alongside Sabonis. Like a Evan Mobley, Myles Turner, or Jaren Jackson Jr. Unfortunately, those types don't grow on trees. The Kings' ceiling will always be capped without that archetype.

Have the Kings lost a game since dropping Brown?
Just got done mopping up Celtics in TD Garden

Yeah, 6-0 since Brown got canned including wins against Boston, Memphis, and Golden State. And some of these wins theyre even missing DeAaron Fox.
I sorta doubt it's due to some secret elixir Doug Christie has unleashed that he was sitting on as an assistant, it's probably some combination of coincidence, and the shock of Mike Brown's firing sort of jolting the team out of complacency. I dont buy that the players specifically wanted Brown out, but maybe they were getting a little stagnant and this woke them up. But I honestly think a six game streak is mostly coincidence. If they really go on a tear the rest of the season and finish in the top half of the conference I might be more inclined to see it different.

All 6 teams they beat will be playoff teams most certainly.
Hard to call it a coincedence.

It's almost certainly not an unrelated coincidence but the sample size is ultimately meaningless. Get back to us after 40 games post Brown.

It's a FO problem if anything. The narcissistic retard you responded to is a flaming homosexual btw.
