Tonight before their game against the Knicks

The Chicago Bulls will celebrate one of the most iconic players in franchise history, Derrick Rose, on Saturday, Jan. 4, for Derrick Rose Night, as the team hosts the New York Knicks at the United Center. Gates will open at 5 p.m., 30 minutes earlier than a normal game night, to allow fans the time to fully experience Derrick Rose Night.

Derrick Rose Night will serve as a celebration of Derrick’s retirement from the NBA, his memorable career and his contributions to the Bulls and the city of Chicago. Throughout the game, there will be special moments recognizing Derrick, his family, and his Bulls teammates, many of whom will be in attendance as part of the night. Players on both teams will wear themed shooting shirts to honor Derrick’s time with both franchises. The shirts will display “1.4.25” across the front, signifying the day of the game as well as the jersey numbers he wore as a Bull, a Knick and as a high school player at Simeon Career Academy.

Not much to say. Still heartbreaking that he is no longer playing.

I'm still undecided that's exactly how great Derrick Rose was. Like I know he was really good but he was healthy throughout his career was he the type of player who would have carried multiple teams deep into the playoffs? On a regular basis I mean

Did you watch him play before the injuries? He took the Bulls to the ECF in 2011, so the answer to your question is YES, he would have carried teams deep into the playoffs regularly, he was just starting to do it. And how great was he? Good enough to be the youngest MVP ever. He would be Top 10 all-time PG with Magic, Stephen, Stockton, Nash, etc. Check his highlights and enjoy them. I used to watch Bulls games' highlights just to see his dunks and crossovers.

A question about the ceremony. Did they retire his jersey? He is on the line of deserving, he played 8 seasons with them, 3 all-star games, rookie of the year, MVP, 1st team all-nba, etc.
