Playground basketball. It is what it is. Personally it can be fun in limited doses.

I thought of Jordan. He would have made a quick move, spend less time with the ball to score, use up a lot less energy.

Also teenager's perspective at the time, the playgrounds, where dribbling a lot would make them think that they are good at basketball. Or that a player from the past were lesser ball handlers for not over dribbling. Or would be a better ball handler than Michael Jordan, even though the reality is that Jordan with the ball in his hand, one on one can create more open shots, with fewer chances of losing the ball.

My first thought was "at least it wasn't a sidestep 3".

Looks like 2010s Rockets offense with Harden. One player dribbling the air out the ball with the other players standing there watching. Difference being all the defenders are playing him for the drive below the free throw line, today they'd be sticking to the wings for the 3 pointer. Also I guess whoever Franchise waved off for his iso wasn't much of a post threat( canf tell who that was).

Francis used to get killed for that. I remember. "He over dribbles."
Would be a God today.

Funny thing is, people think of Iverson being this way but he actually did alot more work off the ball than he's remembered for.

PTSD from when mid dudes who think they're all that play like this. Even when they're on the other team getting killed, I just feel bad for the people who have to play with them.

This is something MJ did a lot during his Finals matchups vs the Jazz.

The fact that you posted this while sporting a Luka avy is incredible. :lol

Lukas dribble time of possession is possibly the highest in NBA history statistically speaking.

I think there was illegal defense back then though so none of the other 4 guys can double. So they were trying to exploit that.

If Luka could have all 4 of his teammates stand at half court and get a free 1v1 he'd probably take 50 shots a game.

It was Tuesday for Francis. He broke AI so hard 3 minutes before that he walked off as if he had torn something in his side

quite a few like it in that game, but that also isn’t what I was going to talk about. Everything I could think to discuss was covered by somebody in an unusual but refreshing Moment of ISH synthesis.

I'm surprised, no one else is surprised, about the team's defense. That is the most striking thing about that clip to me.

I know the illegal defense rules were different then but it looks so strange to see. I really forgot what it was like back then.

Looks like Iverson knew Francis was gonna cross back over and he tried kicking it away at the low point, at which Stevie hit him in the side as he made his move. They was street balling.

I don't see the problem. It worked and it was very nice.

This all comes back to a saying "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should"

Francis was neither an efficient enough scorer nor great enough passer to warrant this type of ball domination.

In his best scoring season he put up over 20 on efficiency 2.0% higher than league average TS%

There were many PGs that with great handles and a killer crossover in the late 90s-early 2000s. Francis, Marbury, Iverson, Baron Davis or Jason Williams to name a few. Pre-injury Derrick Rose, Kyrie Irving and John Wall continued that trend. We see it very little nowadays. I loved watching them, although we don't have any indication it was conductive for winning basketball. Most of the players mentioned were all-stars but never went very far in the post-season.

Luka.

Only half a foot shorter.

And 10ft closer to the rim.

1 less point.
