What do you think is worth more to you personally IF you were an NBA player? More money or less money for rings? Would you rather finish you career with $400M total earnings but no rings OR $150M but six rings?

Many NBA players take paycuts to win. Would you do it?

Six rings.

$150M is still rich af, plus if you invest smartly youll make plenty more.

You cant take the rings over the money if youre only gonna make like 1-2 mil in total with the rings versus 400M. But by the time youre up to 150 mil you can prioritize the personal satisfaction and social prestige of winning over extra money. In my opinion.

6 rings as the man leaves a legacy that can be leveraged into much more than $400M. Anyone should take that.

Six rings for sure.

Only a Bronie fluffer wouldn't take the rings.

Is the guy with six rings like the 10th man on the team?
Let's be real, it's a team sport but we obviously wanna be the stars. Anyone remember the 10th man on the the 89 Pistons or the 2014 Spurs?

But for the 0 rings, how many NBA finals? Also, do I get longevity stats and a museum?

The 400. Someone actually asked Horry in an interview and he made it clear. He would’ve preferred to be Barkley. And believe it or not Horry also made slightly more money than Barkley did during his career. It isnt as wide a gap as some sites show because they don’t track Barclays rookie and second contract, but it still doesn’t match.

But he earned more nba money(no doubt less endorsements) and got 7 rings. But the competitor in him wishes he were a star player.

You wanna be great after all the work that gets put in. Not just rich and not just a “winner”. Players worth a damn want to be great.

You need to specify what kind of rings these are to answer this question. If they aren't first option rings, I'm taking the $400 million.

Nah. There is a huge huuuuuge difference in what you can do either for yourself or for others with 300 million in additional earnings. Assuming this is after taxes which is possible these days(Wemby is gonna make a billion in career earnings if healthy).

Just to pass the time I’ve often thought of what I’d like to do in a lottery winner situation a I couldn’t do much of it with 100. I couldn’t do all of it with 400 either. Development is wildly expensive. But I’d be able to do more.

Id need billions to not have to partner with a lot of others…I could barely make a dent locally with 100-400 million.

I already have just about all I want for myself practically speaking.

Im not saying the whole thing would go to “charity” since I don’t trust others to distribute for the most part…but I’d definitely start on some improvements.

Ive always wondered why there aren’t more job training/trade school combos with programs for the homeless and poor. I’d want to open a rehab center combined with training and attached housing. Get some of these people I see sleeping outside a a real chance to turn it around if they have the will. So many can’t get a real job due to drugs.

I want a place they can go if they’re ready to try. Rehab…free job training and placement service. Give them an actual address. That’s a bigger obstacle than you’d think. Having valid ID, paperwork, a way to access email, and a mailing address. The ones who get relatively clean and keep showing up to work move from the main facility to the attached studio apartments at extremely reduced rates to get on their feet. Get a year to find a place of their own. You can’t save everyone but I’d make a difference to enough I’d feel better about it.

I couldn’t even do that with 100 million. Or 400 for that matter.

I have to start small. I’d only have like 50 left after I set up the people directly related to me and around me the way I’d like.

Putting aside gains from investments of course.

I need the most seed money I can get.

Id be fine with like 20 million. Hell I’m fine now. But I can’t say I’d put it all to work for others. I’d make sure I was rich forever…but the rest? I need a lot more “the rest”. I don’t think I’d leave it on the table for something as immaterial as rings.
