Links to X/Twitter will not be allowed on r/NFL with immediate effect. This also includes screenshots.

There has been much discussion in recent days about the platform and actions of its owner. But it has been a point of contention on this subreddit for a long time and for other reasons.

These include the “karma race” to post news first, the inability to edit tweets meaning updates or tangential news must become its own thread, information not being preserved when content is deleted, users not being able to view content without an account and a variety of others.

For most of this subreddit’s history, these downsides have been understood by the userbase as being inconvenient but necessary. However, in light of recent events and the continuing path that platform is taking to make the user experience for Redditors less than ideal, combined with news sources also moving to other sites, X/Twitter links are no longer allowed on r/NFL.

As we do with all policies we will evaluate in the future

This right now is the peak for conservatives. Enjoy it. The pendulum will swing back left over the next 4 years during Trump's reign. Trump is at peak approval, and now dipping. His first term was the same, as was Biden and Obama. They start high and then the public is over it.

Woke will come back, although it will likely be branded under a different word or constructed around a slightly different philosophy. The reality is that minorities, gays, women, etc aren't going anywhere. In fact they are gaining in population. And being offended isn't going to magically vanish under Trump either.

4 years is a long time though. We had ours with Biden, and now you get yours. IMO don't spend the next 4 years worried about all the negatives thrown at the right. There will be plenty. Most of it is a complete waste of time.

Moderation of forums is proven to help maintain a healthy base, it isn't about free speech. Trolling chases away real debate. Don't use reddit then. Go on Blind, they're a lot more balanced politically than Reddit from what I see(though I don't go on Reddit a ton admittedly). You have to use your work email to register so the opinions you're getting are mostly from people who are educated with decent careers.

Overall, I think social media is a good thing, I just think a lot of people are using it to replace real social interaction and intimacy which it never was really meant for. When people go down that route they start believing in vampires and shit, which is a lot more farfetched than ww3.
