The Miami Heat are suspending forward Jimmy Butler without pay for an indefinite period of time after the disgruntled star walked out of practice Monday, the team announced.

It's the third time Butler has been suspended by the Heat in recent weeks and comes after he was expected to return from his second suspension Monday night against the Orlando Magic. The Heat said this current suspension will last no fewer than five games, which will take it through the NBA's trade deadline on Feb. 6.

Jimmy you are hurting the team...also Jimmy your on the bench. :facepalm

They are trading him and taking the money out of spite. Riley is pissed. In not going to cheer him on but it's understandable. If a guy is going to force his way out he's asking for it. And Butler likely knows what he's doing. This is alose-lose situation.

It's just laughable when it's always the players fault. You are forcing your way out while we suspend you and refuse to let you play. Also what is it our job to build a title contender around you...what you think we have the ability to trade for players or something.

Blaming Butler for Miami not winning a championship would be laughable. Blaming him for not living up to his contract and behaving like a professional is just commenting on reality.

I mean you are not wrong Jimmy shouldn't make a spectacle of himself, but isn't it the managers job to manage the players. Do you think Jimmy just randomly decided to turn against the team or did Pat not move Jimmy when he had the chance to do so for months.

It just shouldn't be lost on anyone that this should have been handled in house not in public. Jimmy could just make up a BS injury and take his money he's not doing that.

Riley at least partially believes that Butler is bsing when it comes to injuries which is part of the big problem here. Butler would be happy in Miami if the Heat were willing to pay him 50 mil per to play 50 games per for the next 4 years. The problem there is that that would be an awful contract for Miami. Only way aGM should give a player 35+ years old that is guaranteed to miss a third of the season and very possibly will be out for the playoffs is of they have a great roster that can win a championship so they can coast through the regular season, still have a top 3 seed and then they know that this guy will turn out on in the playoffs and they will be competing in the Finals. Butler did manage to turn it on like that a few years ago but 2 years is a long time when a guy is closer to 40 than 30 and when he does play Butler is currently averaging 17 points. He can still help a team and I won't be shocked if he makes some big postseason plays this year for his new team but to be worthy of the max a guy has to be a team-carrying potential allstar. Butler will never be an allstar again, has to be load-managed like he's 40 and will have far more games where he looks like a roleplayer than an All-NBA. Would you give him the max in Miami? Because Riley clearly won't and in that decision he is completely right.

The clown walked out of practice before it was wrapped up. It baffles me how folks like you take for these self-absorbed divas who are contributing to the leagues decay.

Supposedly the reason for the suspension is walking out of practice after being told he wouldn't start. At this point where he wants out so obviously doesn't care about what's best for the team, sit your ass on the bench, play when your number is called, collect your money and have your bags packed and ready. He fukked up by giving Miami a reason to suspend him without pay. I don't think there's any victims here, but Jimmy absolutely screwed himself from a $$$ POV. Plus the prima donna attitude as an aging 35-36 year old isn't really an attractive look for potential suitors. He can either put a good team over the top or disrupt a locker-room. Not sure he's worth the risk but some team will take a gamble even if it's in the short term.

Never a good idea to psychoanalyze a guy from afar but I will point out that Butler most likely has some severe childhood trauma that affects him to this day. His mother kicked him out when he was 13 years old. Our society does not prepare 13 year-olds to live alone and that kind of twittering could be worse for him mentally than if she had died. Hard to say exactly how much of his current behavior is linked to that but it has to have changed him to go through that kind of instability.

Jimmy Butler is a cancer.

From a salary per games played measurement, Butler is like a top 3 player only behind Simmons and Zion. The fact that he's doing all of this about 1 extra year is insane.

And, yes, you heard right. Because of the over-38 rule, Butler is not able to sign more than a 2 year deal. Many people falsely believe he's been fighting for a 2 year extension on top of the 1 year he has remaining. No. That's 2 years total, replacing the 1 year he has remaining.

With his terrible injury and availability history and PG13 blowing up in Philly's face, I can confidently say that nobody is giving him a max contract except MAYBE for the Suns if they can figure out a trade for him. But if he's traded there and fizzles out in the playoffs, this will be another Harden in Philly situation and Jimmy will turn on the Suns front office .
