James gets to play for a championship and he might be willing to go back to Cleveland where he would be greeted as a returning hero. LA gets set up as a Contender in the west for at least another 5 years.

I put no thought into matching money, before anyone brings that up.

Why would Cleveland do this? Lebron at this stage does not at all match the value of Garland + Allen/Mobley right now much less for the future.

They still love him locally and he'd give them star power. I would still rate him above Garland for generating offense in a playoff series and making decisions. And he world get calls worth the game on the line that Garland possibly would not.

Sure, if it’s just Garland. But the Allen/Mobley two-headed monster up front is a huge part of their DNA.

Any time you make a trade that involves starters you are massively changing your team. I believe this trade would make them match up a lot better with the Celtics, making Tatum deal with James instead of them having to switch around their players because their starting five really doesn't match well with Tatum and Brown.

I'm not making that trade if I'm in Cleveland unless the idea is to improve gate receipts. For basketball reasons, you know what you have in the current roster who've been at the top of the conference all season. I wouldn't muck that up. Lebron at 40 still gets his numbers but he doesn't impact winning like he did even 4 years ago so I don't think exchanging him for those pieces moves the needle. You also risk alienating your young talent.

Nobody loves him enough to do something that ridiculous. Everyone here is happy with things the way they are.
