Nobody respects the math behind assisted rate (except maybe Dallas now gets it), but 2 lowly-assisted players (2 guys that score mostly unassisted buckets) won't fit together
Period.. It's math.. And this is an FU to Lebron imo

LeBron is 40 and just dropped a 30 point triple double.
MJ at that age was leading the Wizards to a losing record and had a 49 TS%.

Teams in MJ's era allowed 20 less ppg and MJ didn't have AD to take pressure off and help his efficiency, yet he was still better than Lebron:

Lebron has zero famous plays or game-winners at MSG, while MJ has a million iconic moves and clutch winners because he has a bag and clutch, while Lebron is neither

40-year old Jordan with the cast Lebron has now would have won the title.

From earlier:
I told you guys it was rigged
Let's look at the facts:
The NBA allows the Lakers to heist AD... Now they coordinate a 5 team deal that gets Luka frieking Doncic... Sandwiched in between the AD and Luka scams are 5 times the transaction activity and 3 times the FT differential.. And the media ignored the DEA catching Lebron's bestie and trainer accessing the premium black market for PED's... Of course, the "decision" means this fraud has been going on for 15 years lol
So fellas, how does it feel to fall for the biggest fraud in sports history?
Rigged for who? Lebron? The Lakers? On one hand you make it sound like Luka joining Lebron has suddenly tipped the balance of power( it hasn't) in some grand conspiracy to get Lebron his 5th ring. On the other you're decrying it as a bad move because the two of them have pretty redundant skillsets( which they do) and won't fit. So which one is it?

Are you still that same bronsexual with many alts pretending to be a dirk, mavs and luka fanboy? You guys are nuts. What are you doing defending the Lakers, you just lost Luka?

Who and what the fukk are you talking about? For starters, where in that post contains anything that suggest I'm a 'bronsexual'? You all who come up with this bullshit and randomly accuse people of being alts need help. I can assure you, though not because I'm under any obligation to, I'm no alt.

Yes. LA wins? Lebron got carried to another title and is a fluke. LA loses? See, told you Luka and Lebron wouldn't work out. No matter the outcome, he's always 'right'.

I remember when Pau got traded to LA and all the Kobe haters lost their minds. Luka is clearly a better talent yet... why are Lebron haters not complaining?
Because they know about the horrible offensive fit and lack of defense that's coming. If they were scared they'd be making a fuss but it's literally the opposite.

That was my knee jerk reaction when I first heard the news and spit out my fruit juice - I assumed it was a rigging - and it probably is but the riggers don't know about assisted rate, so they don't know that it won't work... They just think "wow lebron and luka" and that's as far as they think it through

I remember when Kobe was the worst basketball player on the planet in his final season and the idea of them competing in the playoffs, let alone making a finals run, would get you laughed out of the building due to the state of the Lakers franchise at the tail end of his career.
Pretty neat for LeBron to save their franchise and still provide competitive ball and interesting moves in the twilight of his career, which is quite the juxtaposition in reference to Kobe.

I'll be on the record of saying, as neither a Lebron hater or supporter....this was a move for post-Lebron. This trade in no way moves LA to the top of the pecking order. Granted, I would hate as a higher seed having to deal with that duo in the early playoff rounds. But it's a flawed roster now missing its defensive anchor led by two on-ball guys with similar tendencies. Best case I see is 2nd round depending on how the seedings shake out. BUT, I wonder if other moves are coming.

Kobes chucking on terrible teams in those last few years gave LA bad records and afforded them the high draft picks and assets that would eventually allow them to win the Disney title in 2020 led by AD and Lebron.
It was a gracious gift from Lord Mamba to us real Laker fans. You know what I mean? :lol

Wait no, I got it:
He’ll say that it IS stacking the deck and the league trying to get him a ring. HOWEVER, the league experts don’t know Lebron like 3ball does, so it will inevitably still fail because he isn’t good enough. Guarantee you that’s how he’ll spin it :lol
EDIT: holy shit I had that typed out and sent it before I saw 3balls last post. I fvcking nailed it :lol

Sure, if you wanna spin that way.
Just saying if you wanna compare apples to apples and compare lebrons last year's to Kobe's, it's something that can be discussed. And it's not favorable to Kobe in any way.
It's pretty telling you talk about LeBron as if he's still at his peak though, and compare his situation at 40 to Kobes at 27. Even you know they aren't actually peers.

Lakers don’t care. They’ll trade LeBron tomorrow if Luka wants. They’re thinking long term and yes anyone besides Wemby is possible. Luka/Giannis, Luka/kd, Luka/bam etc etc is wat pelinka should be thinking

Agreed 100%. But just because Kobe was moderately better doesn't mean Lebron wasn't great in his own right. Lebrons one of the greatest basketball players ever imo.

How are they gonna trade LeBron when he has a NTC, even if Luka wants him gone he can't force LeBron to leave.

Imagine if Luka was teaming up with Karl Malone instead of Lebron.... Malone is assisted on 78% (https://www.nba.com/stats/player/252/scoring?Season=1997-98) of his shots, so he never has the ball and has goat fits with ball-handlers like Luka.
Otoh, Lebron is among the only high-scorers in history that dominate the ball as much as Luka, so his low-assisted rates and unassisted scoring will leave Luka standing around, and vice versa.. It will be a horrible fit.

A lot of people do think Lebron/Luka is not a good fit especially with Lebron being 40. Neither are elite defenders and Luka is actually more ball dominant than Lebron in his prime. The only way it could even possibly work is if Lebron plays almost totally out of the post, as a screener, and as a three-point floor spacer. But you take away a large chunk of Lebron's total abilities at that point.
If we can be honest here for a second, although Luka is very redundant given Lebron/Reaves have been very good with ball handling duties recently, the biggest and by far worst issue is the Lakers defense. Reaves is also a bad defender and the Lakers ALREADY had bad depth at the C position. Without AD and now a backcourt of Reaves/Luka, the Lakers will have the worst interior defense in the league and probably a bottom 5 rebounding team too. They have NO SHOT at even competing in the first round of the playoffs as currently structured in my opinion.
It does indeed seem like a "shot" at Lebron on some level since the Lakers have been good this year and were one backup C from being a title threat. But then when you think about it, the Lakers HAD to made this deal. It's such an absurd gift on a long term scale for the Mavs to offer Luka for AD like that. Pretty much impossible the Lakers said no to the trade regardless of how good Lebron still is because HE'S 40 YEARS OLD.

Luka fans got what they wanted. They actually got the 2nd greatest player of all time to somehow take the backseat to him. This is what all you luka fans wanted. You pretty much have the greatest #2 option in the history of the sport and fell flat on your face and got 1st rounded by a 23-year-old
The Lakers are gonna lose this game if Luka stays in the driving seat... What is LeSpeedracer doing? Is he really gonna sit back and watch his team lose again like he did with wade in 2011 :facepalm
LeBron needs to get one of them driver's ed cars where he can take control at anytime while in the passenger seat or luka is gonna lead the lakers to a L
You have 1 more game to correct this mistake and take control of the car.....

The Lakers made the trade to solidify the stability of the future of the franchise and to have someone be its face and its superstar after LeBron retires. It was unrealistic to expect a deep playoff run after the Lakers core played less than 28 games together with a roster they didn't want constructed the way it is currently.
