Theyre getting Charlotte's pick this year?
Did the Hornets use protection? (Im guessing not, bc Hornets).

Demar and Lavine on the Kings together. You've gotta be kidding.
Spurs finally fielding a tolerable roster. Just get rid of Keldon.

Kings should have just kept Fox and said if you wanna leave in two years go ahead.

I agree. But not having any future 1st round pick in return is equally crap too. :facepalm

Yeah, it's lotto protected. Kings shoulda demanded the Atl pick from Spurs. THAT one is unprotected and Hawks just lost Johnson for the season.
Overall, Spurs the clear biggest winner. Really just for being able to keep Castle, Sochan, Vassel, etc. Even kept Keldon, jesus.
Kings didn't make it out too bad. Lavine is actually better than Fox on offense. Better shooting and efficiency. Kings D may take a dip, but that's fine. Fox is NOT a leader. LaVine at least has passion, even if his D sucks.
If Kings got the Atl pick instead of the Cha pick, I'd give the Kings a A-. But for now, it's a B/B+. Spurs a clear A+++++++++. Bulls? B I guess. Got their own pick back and will have better cap situation next season, but who's gonna go there?

1 good pick. Lavine is a loser
Yossi Gozlan: The Spurs got De’Aaron Fox while sending out four firsts. One is a Hornets first that will convey into two seconds. One is a Bulls that is probably never going to convey. And another is one of their own in 2027. The only of value they sent out IMO is the 2031 Wolves pick. They still have a lot of good picks left for future moves. – via x.com

Since it's Top 14 protected and, well, there's 99.99% chance Hornets don't make the playoffs, the Hornets will keep the pick. Since they keep the pick for the 2025 Draft, it then turns into 2 2nd rnd picks, I guess in 2026.
Pick protection is stupid, but conveying is ESPECIALLY stupid. The increase of value of 2nd rnd picks in recent years is so stupid. I'd rather just have a pick have diminishing protection over the years instead of 2 2nds. But in general, I wish pick protection was banned.

This could work for Sacramento as long as Sabonis becomes even more of a facilitating focal point. As long as they don't let DeMar slow things down too much because that's what hurt LaVine's game before.

Let Sabonis go full Jokic. He's averaging 20.8 ppg, 14.4 rpg, 6.5 apg this season. He should be doing like 20-25 ppg with 8-10 apg. He's so efficient (67.6% TS) he can afford to do a little more.

Presuming the Kings keep DeRozan, the Kings can be real nice if Sabonis is Joker Jr and the ex-Bulls buy-in on defense and spreading the wealth on offense. (okay, maybe the defense part is a reach).
But if Domas, DeRozan, LaVine, Monk, and Keegan are all clicking together and firing on all cylinders? Kings will be just fine this season, imo. #6 seed? Ehh...West is loaded lol. But I don't think they fall out of play-in. Yes, even with Spurs currently behind them.

They still have no 3 and D guys except Barnes, which is what you need around Wemby and Fox. Maybe go all in and swing a CP3 and filler trade for Cam Johnson.

It's this.
Yama and Fox is fine. It's decent. It is an upgrade but it's not contending for anything right now. And I dont see it as a duo that's gonna carry an average cast to real contention. Theyre gonna need real depth. Theyll need someone to turn into a Norman Powell and someone else to turn into a Mo Wagner. Etc. They need a complete team, these two alone arent just gonna carry.
So it's an ok start but they still have a ways to go. They shouldnt give Fox the full max, hes a very good player but not a top 10 player, not really even top 15. They will but it will be a mistake. So in a way this kind puts them in a more prominent spot on the treadmill, but it doesnt make them elite. And Im not sure I see the path to that.

Giddey being an actual playmaker/someone looking to pass helped LaVine's game a lot. You hope Sabonis can do the same.

Why would kings get Atlanta first rd pick? Especially when you mention Lavine being a better scorer than Fox. Kings didn’t give up anything player wise or important but Fox.

This should solidly put the Spurs in the playoffs. Fox can play... he's basically averaging Kobe or Wade numbers, just a tad less. I know that doesn't mean much today but I did watch him light the warriors up in the playoffs so I may be biased after seeing that.

Why? What did Chris Paul win when he was younger? He was in the middle of his prime and had a prime Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan, J.J. Redick along with Jamal Crawford among other serviceable vets. Yet, they won nothing.

And I'm simply saying it wouldn't matter. Those Clippers teams are better overall than what the Spurs have now. Yes, Wemby is the best player among any of those names, but collectively those Clippers teams are better than the Spurs as they are formed right now.
And I'm simply saying having Paul in his prime or younger wouldn't matter. He's never gotten over the hump even with a better than what the Spurs are now. Paul now? They win nothing. Paul 10 years ago, they still win nothing. He's proven that already.

He literally put up 41/8 to send his team to the finals at 35.
Thats the funny thing about narratives built solely on accomplishments. Once you pull off what it’s said you can’t do people don’t actually care. They just keep on with the same claim you can’t even when they see it. People only hold you accountable till you get it done then they move the goal posts to the thing they mocked you for not doing not even being anything noteworthy to do.
Prime Paul on this team would definitely be of use. 5 years ago Paul might have them contending.

Some players never were meant for winning no matter what statline they put up. He can carry a team on his back. The truth at the end of the day it doesn't matter. He has no Finals appearances. Not a winner. He'll be known for three things when he retires. Not ever making the Finals. Being second all-time in assists and being one of the greatest floppers ever.
