DFS to start. Going to need a center. Words is LA is trying to get Mitchell Robinson. Not sure if he's healthy or what the cost is. Hopefully, they can get someone like Poeltl or Kessler. Might have to part with Knecht or even Reaves to make it happen. I'd only give up Reaves if the deal came with the center + another quality starter.

Highest IQ lineup in the game.
And not because of the agenda you're advancing, but Lebron-Luka-Reaves is legitimately the highest IQ trio in the league currently, among any teams' top three players.
Obviously not saying itll be the best by impact but in terms of pure basketball wits, theres no doubt.

I have a very hard time seeing NYK giving up Robinson altho thatd be huge. Poeltl's kind of a conventional post up center isnt he? Not sure that makes sense on a team with wings this ball dominant. A pure defender and rim runner feels more ideal. Kessler like you mentioned could be a good fit, or someone like Time Lord Williams who might require the Lakers to give up less.

Poeltl's like the economy class version of Hartenstein I think. Same kind of package: strong rim protection and defensive rebounding, good defensive versatility, competent rim runner, offensive rebounding, elbow passing, and floater bag in that paint-extended region.

Kessler would be INSANE with Luka. Lobs for days.

Kessler would be a great pick for Lakers, but they shouldn't trade Reaves. Anyone but Reaves.

I seriously doubt Lebron will be able to coexist with Luka.
Luka is not taking a backseat to anyone, definitely not 40 year old Lebron.

It's not a terrible choice. Theyre gonna get Vanderbilt back from injury too at some point.
It's not really the defensive frontcourt thats the issue, whether AD is or isnt there. You can find unheralded bigs to just stick in the paint on defense and tell them to try to block some shots. It's not like AD ever shut down Jokic, and hes been abused his whole career by Sabonis. AD can block a couple shots per game but its not like he simply STOPS teams from scoring. The issue is more how weak the Lakers perimeter defense will be, in the halfcourt and in transition.
I dont think itd be unreasonable to bring Reaves off the bench and stagger his minutes relative to the other two througout the game. Get a stronger defensive guard in the lineup with James and Doncic.
And by that I mean Bronny James.

You know the best available are Poetl or Kessler.
Let's hope Pelinka isn't getting psyched out of a Minnesota situation from back in the day.
