...along with three second-round picks and two future pick swaps.
I like this. It gives the Cavs something they've wanted the last few years. An athletic wing that is long and can shoot the three. He's an average defender, but is above average when he actually engages.
Allen
Mobley
Hunter
Mitchell
Garland
-
Strus
Jerome
Okoro
Wade

He's not average, he's above average. I would take him on the Knicks in a heartbeat

The games that I've watched and the Defensive Rating stats show otherwise.

In my opinion on paper this was the second best trade during the deadline behind Doncic going to the Lakers. Even better than Butler going to the Warriors

Stacked. No excuses now for Cleveland.

Not only that, but they have no draft picks. Their picks are owned by the Spurs. So if the Hawks tank, Young will become disgruntled and might not want to extend and if they fall into the lottery and some how one the lottery the Spurs could end up with a Cooper Flagg or something lol. :oldlol:

He was good against Luka, so I figure he can take on Tatum/Brown.

I think it's a hail mary to get Flagg, Harper, or Bailey at this point. I don't think that Trae is in the long-term plans.
Going to be a rough couple of years either way.

How are they going to get any of those guys? Spurs have the Hawks pick and it's unprotected.

Yea..shit. I had fully pushed that out of my mind as these guys were getting sold off for nothing as a slight glimmer of hope for some reason. Lying to myself.
Trae also has so little trade value and is just good enough to keep you at 35-37 wins in the East that it's complete limbo forever. Or just rip the band aid off and give him away for peanuts and start over. Jalen Johnson and Dyson Daniels are good pieces to start with if you can get lucky in future drafts and get a star.

DeAndre Hunter is not a very good player. He's not worth Levert by himself let alone Niang.
But these are small fries. They don't matter much in the end.

A long wing who shoots well? He's far more useful for that team that Levert was. They don't need a ball-handler, so the opportunity to ship one off for a shooter is a good move.
As you said, it's small fries. So why not get someone who is a little better of a fit?

Better fit maybe. But I don't think this improves them.

Maybe not in the regular season. They'll still win 62 or whatever games regardless of those two, but in a playoff series he will be more useful for them.

I don't think so but we'll see. I hope Ty Jerome get more playing time as a result of this cause he's been balling.

He might, because Okoro and and Wade are out probably for some weeks now.
It's hard to get him minutes behind Garland and Mitchell unless you run three guards out there at the same time and they didn't even do that usually when they had LeVert.
Ask for your opinion on Hunter, I disagree. Hunter is better than LeVert or Niang and fits exactly what the Cavs wanted and needed. LeVert isn't the same player he was when he was back in Brooklyn and Indiana and ever seen he arrived in Cleveland (even before Mitchell) he's struggled majority of the time. He was doing well off the bench this year and at one point was leading the NBA in three point shoot, but he's struggled the last month since the knee issues. His last two games: loss against Boston and shot 0-5 from the field in 17 minutes. Win against the Pistons barely and shot 0-8 from the field in 21 minutes and was -23 when he was on the court.

Jermone's stats when he gets a at least 20 minutes per game (only two games all season he's had over 30 minutes):
16.6 PPG
5.1 APG
4.7 RPG
1.4 SPG
If he's putting up those stats when just getting 20-25 minutes per game in 90% of those games and is considered a total scrub? I'll take a total scrub I guess on my team as a backup.

They have to win it first. Celtics were slept on for years and years until they could at least make it to the Finals.

That's completely false because Franklin is actually Ben Simmons.
