Should the Timberwolves Experiment With More No Rudy Lineups?

Timberwolves have been not doing as well as expected. They have been suffering from a huge lack of spacing. Ant has had to carry a lot of lineups with dreadful spacing and all around offensive help. I was looking at line up data and their best offensive lineup is

Alexander-Walker
DiVincenzo
Randle
Reid

This line up has the third most minutes of the season

34 Games
135 Minutes
125.6 Offensive Rating
107.3 Defensive Rating

It makes sense this lineup is the best offensively with an abundance of spacing. What’s also a tad surprising is it’s actually their best performing defensive line up out of the top 3 lineup in minutes played for the Wolves this season.

Playing with Gobert and Mcdaniels so much has been tough on Ant. Timberwolves roster is tough right now. Gobert needs spacing and Minnesota just doesn’t really have it. They should try to play with less Gobert. If they can find more success with these lineups it should translate to the post season better as well.

They should definitely try to go away from Gobert to close games.

Of course they should but due to his big contract they probably don't like the optics of doing so. But Reid can do a little of everything. Not to mention Garza is a very good player who doesn't even see the floor but can light it up offensively.

I would have really liked to have seen Minny try to move Gobert at the deadline for depth.

Their most used lineup is a net + despite conley and mcdaniels being awful. Conley was looking better off the bench before divenchenzo went down. They have been playing better if they can get healthy. Next most used line up is a negative with mcdaniels and divenchenzo who was sucking before they put him in starting lineup briefly. The next lineup that is a negative has played 55 minutes together the kind of sample size only a troll would take seriously. Good luck rebounding without gobert. They are barely a positive there because he gets little help. Mcdaniels edwards their most used two man lineup just ahead of ant gobert. Ant gobert is better those 3 most used 3 man lineup + 4. Most used 4 man lineup those 3 with randle +2. They are coming around. Need to get healthy and maybe add some depth somehow. Just watched gobert own kessler who otherwise has been great

2nd most used lineup has been bad with divenzhenzo with rudy randle ant and mcdaniels. Id say hes been their biggsr issue and he was coming around. Maybe garza is the answer though:roll:

Ant has been balling if you hadnt noticed. Gobert ant mcdaniels mosed used 3 man lineup +4. Going to need a new theory. Looking at this stuff it would appear more to be finch figuring it out. I line up over 65 minutes is a negative. 1 with gobert over 55

The 135 minute lineup gets outrebounded as expected. Teams would adjust to that and take advantage is my guess. Great unit for the 15 minutes or so gobert is off the floor

It might work at times. Benching your defensive leader down the stretch in games where defense is even more important doesnt sound like a plan. Peoplecseem to forget they beat the defending champs and favorites i. The playoffs just last year
