offered “unsolicited and unwanted” parenting advice and even shed tears before ending the meeting by telling Butler he loved him.
According to multiple league sources with knowledge of the meeting, tears welled in Riley’s eyes as he attempted to connect with Butler on a human level. Both men had lost their fathers, and Riley’s famed toughness faded in the moment as he thought about Butler mourning his father’s death last season.
But Riley’s vulnerability did not land with Butler.
From Butler’s vantage point, Riley was “unhinged and disturbing,” as a league source close to him described it.

You wouldn't beleive the full capabilities of sources close to "blank" if you saw it with your own 2 lol. Or the power of multiple sources or even the infamous sources close to Lebron's thinking. These guys kill me.

From obviously a very distant, anecdotal perspective I feel like the things Ive heard from Riles the past few years makes this believable. He is pushing 80 and is maybe becoming a bit out of touch. His charm and mystique could be slipping a bit into caricature.

There is a very good podcast with Riley being interviewed by Le Batard where he talks emotionally and profoundly about the loss of his dad. It's some great stuff.
My guess is Riley thought he could connect but Butler was too wannabe alpha to listen. Probably went back to his locker and thought about how the NBA is slavery or existence is pain or something.
Bless Pat Riley for not putting up with Butler's trash attitude. I love to see it.

I can see where Butler would be weirded out, but it's a douche move making all that public.

Yeah wannabe alpha is butler. Someone who lead bad team to final. But you posting on forum this many years is alpha for sure huh? You sound stoopid

Yeah I get why Jimmy would quit on the organization after that. Riley tried to connect with Butler on a human level but he also wasn't committing to him long term. Which is a really shitty thing to do to a person. At best Riley was looking for closure as he'll be dead in a couple years and he doesn't feel like their are people that will speak for him. At worst he was emotionally manipulating a guy who saved your franchise (and job) while not giving him the standard franchise contract.

Lmao.
These people take themselves way too seriously.
If Riley is that emotionally invested in this crap that’s hilarious.
It’s just a job bruh.

Idk but i think it also has something to do with how butler is rn. If he were younger and still in his prime things could be different. However, he came to miami before the pandemic hit and that was a long time ago. So i guess they had to part ways, no matter how emotional they both could be at this point.
Also some ot, the deepthroating homosexual above of the alt acc above you is extremely retarded too.

He also called him the N word.
And then he said Jimmy's mother gave good head.
And on the way out, he also stepped on Jimmy's brand new Air Max 95.
Jimmy did not deserve that, he was a good boy, always doing his homework, and after school he played soccer and helped old ladies across the street.
