A return to Ukraine’s pre-2014 borders is “an unrealistic objective” and an “illusionary goal” in the peace settlement between Ukraine and Russia that President Trump wants to accomplish, the U.S. Defense Secretary, Pete Hegseth, said on Wednesday at a meeting of countries supporting Ukraine.

Mr. Hegseth also told the meeting, at NATO headquarters in Brussels, that Mr. Trump expected Europe to bear more financial and military responsibility for Ukraine’s defense. He is scheduled to take part in a meeting of NATO defense ministers there on Thursday.

Mr. Trump, he added, does not support Ukraine’s membership in NATO as part of a realistic peace plan.

both putin and his foreign minister have stated countless times through interviews, speeches and even letters to the west that the conditions for achieving peace in ukraine are absolute and non-negotiable; the terms of which i outlined in my previous post.

trump is a "deals" and "wins" guy. there's no deals or wins to be had here. like i said, putin holds all of the cards. until trump comes to the realization that he has zero leverage in all of this and concedes to all of moscow's demands, nothing will change. pausing or reducing aid is nothing but a ruse to make it seem as though we're in control. we're not.
