Players could always shoot 3s but the rules and the style of play was different and it wasn't just reduced to guys chucking open 3s which anyone can make with enough practice.

2025 you have the most 20+ point blowouts in NBA history and teams are shooting 2.5 more threes per game on average than the year before and it keeps going up with each season.

I'd say '74-'79 era & '94-'99 were pretty weak. Even the early-mid 00's were pretty bland, would have been a dumpster fire if it wasn't for Shaq-Kobe Lakers.

The peak was between '84-'88. That's when you had the '84 draft and the height of the Lakers-Celtics rivalry. Early 90's was entertaining, but by the mid 90's all the expansion teams weakened the product considerably. I believe the league expanded too fast from '89-'96, which is why I believe they have added only one team since 1996.

From what I witnessed personally the 2008-2016 era was the best.
