I'm not saying it'll happen but *IF* Lebron wanted to... he *could* take a minimum salary for a year and the Lakers could really make another big splash in the offseason.
It's a unique situation where a guy at the end of his career is still a supermax worthy player. Normally older players cant command high salaries, while guys in their prime cant afford to pass up the money. Lebron's still an elite player who is also a billionaire already and has the flexibility to do whatever he wants. He's been taking year to year contracts as it is. He's not on one of those "legend deals" like Bean was or Steph, where you get a long term deal at the end basically as a thank you. Obviously Lebron could have that, but he's chosen not to.
So the Lakers could potentially go after another big fish *if* Lebron wanted to make a decision like that.
Theyve got guys like Reaves, Vanderbilt, Knecht, Bronny all locked in on team friendly contracts for the next few years. They could add more star power and still have a supporting cast.
Again, Bron's under NO obligation to do it. It's simply a speculative hypothetical.
But I'm just sayin...............
