Seemed only yesterday these franchises were on the precipice of something great.

The Suns experiment was never gonna work. Unless the stars are an absolutely perfect fit for each other, the 'big 3 roster' construction just doesn't work in today's NBA. Philly is the bigger surprise. Even despite the injuries they shouldn't have this horrible a record.

Nah it really didnt. I doubted both of these enterprises just like I was one of the few people to doubt the Irving-Harden-KD experiment.
So neither is a disappointment to me, because disappointment is relative to expectations. And mine were low to begin with.
Basketball is not just about names on paper. It's not just combining guys with ppg. It takes chemistry, leadership, toughness. Do you get those things from KD? Joel? Beal? PG? Most of these guys have been OPENLY unmotivated well before this season.
The fans never learn tho. They always think these things are gonna work.

Suns personally. I expected the 76ers to struggle because two of their three main players are injury prone.

Sixers easily Big 3 has been a dud. Beal is making top dollar and has a no trade claus. Their defense won’t get better with the current roster intact. Now you got to consider moving Durant or maybe Booker. When you shouldn’t have traded for Beal in the first place.

At least the Sixers drafted the ROTY before he got injured.

i would offer a rebuttal, but i really don't want to argue over which of our teams suck more. :oldlol:

The best part of the Sixers' season was an injured rookie :oldlol:
Paul george sucks. It's funny how philly offered this pathetic dude a huge contract when he's had a comical scoring game not a long time ago without franchise teammates embiid and maxey.

I keep thinking was Joel E. that good.
Yes he was .. probably best 5 in the league next to that Denver guy.
But Joel was never close to Joker.
Surprising how PG makes a team just bad ... he is so over rated .. I would pay him no more than 10m.
Biggest disappointment is/was 6'ers. (They were considered a chip team no less)

I’m not sure why but I truly do feel for you. Looking at the next five or so years I don’t think it’ll be fun for you.
You guys are not in a good place. Joel is never coming back as a guy who plays 70+ games and dominates. He was once (literally once) but that was an anomaly. I think we move on and hope for the lottery balls to go your way once again.

If I was them I would try to move KD in the summer (while his value is still high) and get a couple of good players in return, especially one frontcourt player. It's crazy that the Suns' future looked really bright in the summer of 2021, a young team for the future, and in 3-4 years all of that is left is a shambles of what that era.
And about the Sixers, it might sound crazy but I would give it one last go next season hoping that Paul George spends the summer training and ready to make up for this bad season. And if it is not working, trade Embiid (I don't think any team will take George's contract) before the All-Star break and start all over building around Maxey.

Hell no are you crazy? It's a different sport but Philly can drown their sorrows in the eagles winning the super bowl. The Phillies are also good. So fk the 76ers. I will never root for a Philly or Boston team. But that's just me :lol

I’ve been a Sixer fan my entire existence on Earth. I don’t think the next 5 or 6 years could top what I’ve already seen in my lifetime. It’s why I was open to seeing Sam Hinkie plan all the way through before he was forced out. Just so we could end up here. Wouldn’t be shocked if Maxey in the next 5 years at some point is traded.

Sixers laughing stock of the NBA, they're lucky that the Eagles are doing so well which has taken a lot of heat of how shit they're are

Philly by far. It’s a real sports city, so the expectations of the fans are based on real actual calculated knowledgeable sh!t, and a good helping of trust the process delusion.
Phoenix on the other hand, is a bunch of old, decaying retirees & transplants from northern cities, and Mexico. Phoenix is probably an ok sports town for baseball and soccer, but not for basketball, despite Chuck’s run there, Nash’s run there, and a handful of other decent Suns teams.
For the players involved ?
Biggest disappointment amongst all the key players is clearly Beal, while P is pretty damn dissapointing as well. Embiid has his own issues that clearly, in retrospect, shows they should have never trusted the process.
Philly def taking all this harder than Phoenix. Despite that handful of Chicago retirees in Phoenix bringing some real sports fan vibes to the PHX area.

I think the smart thing to do .. is get Joel E. back playing health , and trade him.. for 2 all-stars and 6 drafts.
Maxey is the future , if he can hold up to that shitty philly water , and steak sandwiches .

Phoenix...they were so close to winning a chip and every choice they made pushed them further and further down.
Philly is terrible this year but they can always bounce back to mediocrity next season.
Philly is basically the Clippers of the last 20 years, Phoenix is the Clippers of the 70's/80's.

I have reached a conclusion. If we're just looking at this season: It's the Suns. What a horrifically constructed roster.

Philly has more of an excuse worth the injuries but Phoenix is an easier fix. Paul George might be the worst asset in the league other than Embiid, no one wants those guys at max money. Durant still has a lot of value and so does Booker if the Suns decide to rebuild.
Remember way back almost six years ago when kawhi leonard picked paul george over pascal siakam as his next teammate when he pursued hollywood bt? Nothing special or anything noteworthy came out of it. :kobe:

He did choose George over SGA though and that's plenty bad enough.

I've read before that if the raptors traded siakam for george in summer 2019, then he would have stayed with them but idk if it's true. Ultimately it didn't happen tho so he went on with his plan to move on for another team. Yes, he kept insisting that he just wants to play for his hometown team but i'm guessing that decision to leave toronto was also made out of respect for the heartbroken derozan, who's also shocked af upon learning he's getting involved in a trade during that time.

Why would Derozan be a factor? Even if Leonard cared about his feelings Derozan was already traded.
After winning the ring in 2019, some fans already thought that kawhi is the best raptor of all-time despite only staying there for a season. Demar, otoh, is looked upon as a failure for not being able to deliver a ring in toronto even if he's played there for almost a decade.
It's just an opinion but had leonard stayed there for more seasons, maybe derozan would have a huge hidden grudge for him because of that.

The Suns easily. Philly is dealing with major injuries to their star player. The Suns are just literal ass when completely healthy. :lol
What a depressing existence :lol
Can’t argue that. Prior to Allen Iverson saving the franchise. It was bad. Then once he was gone were we’re stuck in mediocrity for various reasons (overpaying guys, draft picks not panning out). Trust the process was unique and cool imo. But Hinkie was forced out unfortunately. And now we are left with what we have seen. 2nd rd contenders who can’t get over the hump. Eagles ever since Andy Reid era have been a bright spot as well as Phillies. Sixers! Not so much. Can’t say I disagree with your take here. The petty in me wants to throw shots at the Nets franchise but I don’t want to derail the thread.
