Tatum is not THAT guy. And he had a great start to the season as well but has been playing mediocre basketball for the last few months to the point where he's doing worse than last year. He was averaging like an efficient 28-29 a game for a while there and it's gone the other way. You'd think this would have been his season to rise with the Luka & Embiid injuries but it's just mid. He's averaged (this came not counted) 24.6 per game on 43/33/80 splits since the start of January. He averaged 28.3 on 47/37/80 splits in the 30 games before that stretch.

And yet somehow he'll still be 1st team All-NBA for a fourth year in a row, even though he averaged 24 points in January or whatever else you think is so important.

It was crazy because the Knicks were 9.5 point underdogs on Sunday to Boston, but Detroit was only 4.5 point underdog last night.
Tells me two things. Celtics play down to their competition, and it's much harder to win in Bostons homecourt.

If you actually watched the game or at least did a good job of watching box scores you would know that it was the second half of a bac-to-back and Jaylen Brown didn't play. But you don't seem to require information for your opinions.
Also, random fact: Celtics had the best road record in the league entering last night's game and are currently 18-10 at home vs 24-7 on the road.

That still wouldn't explain the huge spread differential since the Knicks have been better than the Pistons this year.
I know this is news to you, but Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum honestly don't scare anybody my guy. It's the other guys that are a problem. Namely Porzingis, Jrue, and White.
There's a reason a dude like Derrick White got play time over Tatum on the Olympic team and would've gotten it over Brown as well. Those guys are your celebrity names... they aren't why you're good. :lol

I know there is no penetrating the bulletproof dome of stupid you call your skull but 20+ ppg two-way players are important. Brown is one of the leaders of the team on top of being one of the most valuable players.
Tatum vs White Olympic pt has nothing to do with anything and I'm sure you just put it in there because you have nothing intelligent to say, as usual.

Thats why I said they are your celebrity names. The Celtics only started winning for real when jrue and porzingis came over and white developed. There are many other two star combos you could swap out for Tatum and Brown and the Celtics would be just as good. Imagine Jokic and Murray there instead, or Luka and Lebron or Curry and Jimmy Butler or Giannis and Dame or SGA and Chet or Fox and Wemby (when healthy) or Brunson and KAT etc. There's a lot of combos that would work.

The only guy the Celtics brought in that won anything before he came here was Holliday. Tatum and Brown have spent over half of their careers in the conference finals. People that aren't stupid can acknowledge that the starting small forward that made the allstar game won finals MVP and is currently averaging over 22 points 6 boards and 4 assists is an important player but I don't expect you to have any sense.
Just to illuminate how stupid you are:
I've been having you argue against your original point. You were at first saying that the knicks had a tougher test in their game against the Celtics. But because you're an idiot you couldn't ignore that something positive had been written about JB so you proceeded to argue that his absence doesn't matter. Good job.

You sound a little cranky my friend... it's not good for you to be so angry and miserable all the time buddy. Getting blown out by Detroit isn't that big of a deal. It's just one game.
Thinking about it more Boston is the only team in the NBA that can have 5 point spacing while not playing small ball. Maybe theres another but its very rare.
Porzingis unlocked that. I don't think there's any other center in the NBA that can play great big man defense in the paint and space the floor on offense from anywhere with elite offensive capability. Maybe Wemby and that's it?

Mediocre basketball? He’s been rebounding, distributing, and defending better than he ever has.
But we don’t need to make what should be a Pistons thread about Tatum. They are a lot of fun to watch. Cade turning the corner randomly and becoming a borderline top 10 guy has been very interesting.

Cs got outrebounded by 19. Looks like they just didn't have the effort last night. Whatever in a long season there will be some bad nights.

Cade is a huge W for the Pistons and the league overall. He's been better than Tatum over the last 2 months.

Good to know that when LeBron retires we can look forwards to you acting like a toddler about Tatum for the next decade.

That's a testament to how great Cade has been in this recent stretch. If Tatum's hyped up to be a top 5 MVP candidate superstar player then Cade deserves just as much hype.

Not really considering Tatum is afaik better by all advanced and impact metrics. Who the hell says Tatum is an MVP besides Celtics fans? MVP compared to Ingram sure but the whole league? Nah

Being at home is considered an advantage, so road teams get a 3 point bump by the oddsmakers. NY was getting 9.5 points (the line actually went down to 8) because the game was @ Boston. If the game had been in NY, the Celts would have been only about a 3.5 point favorite.
Likewise, if last night's game had been in Boston rather than Detroit, the line would have been around 8.5 or 9.

Tatum has more all-around game than Cade right now. He could shoot 4-15 and still have a very positive overall impact. He does everything well.

We all agree Jokic/SGA/Giannis are in a tier of their own, right? And Luka's the 4th guy in that group when healthy.
In the next group you got AD/KAT/Bron/Brunson/Tatum etc and I think you could argue Lebron, AD & KAT over Tatum based on their production. But I feel like going online or even watching games Tatum just gets treated differently like he's one of the top top guys but he's just not.
And I'll add a "hot take" to this - Kyrie has been arguably better than Tatum this season. They're very close in EPM even though Kyrie's team has been injured all season & Kyrie's been the better scorer for the past like 3 months and he's playing hard on D and is hard carrying Dallas to keep them afloat.

You were just saying LeBron was a negative player in the other thread, now he's better than Tatum? Stop trolling if you want me to engage you seriously.
Jokic and SGA are in the top tier, Giannis is a bit below. I wouldn't say Luka's been the fourth best this year, that was probably Wemby when healthy but I guess in general he's top 5ish so close enough. AD over Tatum is defensible, I don't think LeBron is for a regular season anymore, he's too old, even if I'd trust him more than Tatum for a single game. I wouldn't be shocked if LeBron has a better playoffs but Tatum has clearly been more impactful than LBJ this year so far. I like KAT and Brunson a lot but they are definitely not better than Tatum either. You could maybe argue Jaren Jackson Jr. over Tatum this year as well if you want another name. But even if I put Wemby, JJJ and AD over him+the top 4 guys mentioned, he's still 8th best in the league which is pretty ****ing elite. 8th sounds about right for Tatum to me but I might take him over JJJ because I need to see more from him in the playoffs. If Embiid were to return to form somehow he would be better than Tatum obviously but I sadly don't think that's happening.

I was saying Lebron had a negative net rating in response to you guys bashing his teammates. Lebron's still good but he's not MVP-level good but he's still in that 2nd group of guys which is awesome but don't disrespect AD or Luka. Tatum's Net Rating isn't great either, his EPM score has him up that high because his team is that good, just like Donovan Mitchell (who's btw really similar to Tatum in most advanced metrics).
Wemby was better than Tatum before his bloot clot as well.
He's clearly not in the 1st tier. With everyone healthy I don't think he's an All-NBA 1st team level player. Barely 20 PER, mediocre in all the advanced numbers, inconsistent scoring because he jacks 10 threes a game and isn't that good at it, isn't the best player on his own team in half the games etc. His defense is good but he's no Pippen, it's more of a thing where he has great defenders around him so they just all work really well together as a unit.
All in all I feel confident in saying that I'd take Lebron over him.
