He is too short-tempered and not accomplished enough right now. Why would he be asked and not Tatum? Tatum is a NBA champion and plays for the best team in the NBA but they asked Anthony Edwards? A dude who hasnt even reached the Finals??

The face of the league is Lebron James. If the Celtics can win again this season Tatum and Brown will basically get shoved down everyone's throat but they currently aren't because James is just way more popular. He still would be if they won the championship but a repeat would man they are without a doubt on top of the league.

Edwards doesn't care if he's called the face of the league or not but he wants to win games, score a lot of points and of course make money. He won't have control l over the winning part for a long time and who knows whether or not A-Rod is an owner that prioritizes winning. He needs to exercise more self-control (he's over the tech foul suspension limit, the only player to do so currently) and had a scandal out there if anyone wants to tear into his character. But he's ton my enough that something ng that isn't breaking the law can be forgiven if he can just be more careful going forward.
He could of become the have of the league on a much better team, basically.

Wait a minute. How can the face of the league be LeBron James when Luca stole LA from him overnight and everything is all about Luca now? LeBron is not the face of his own team.
Remember? It’s all about Luca, Luca, Luca. His team now. LeBron is an after thought, right? That’s what she said.

You can't have the face of the league playing in Minnesota.
Granted it is still better than Bumf#ck OKC.

Whoever you actually are I'm not going to engage in debate with this troll account. The trolls that spark momentary bursts of activity are overall what has killed this board.

He looked bad yesterday, but part of that was the Lakers excellent trapping defense and Ant doesn't have the Luka/Lebron ability to pass out of the double.
He will have to learn that, like MJ and Kobe, if he wants to be more than Vince Carter.

Troll account is myth. I am only me. I actually think I have some of the most common sense. Did Lebron not hand over the keys to Luca to be the face of the Lakers team in LA? Yes or no? Simple question.

Tatum is like the small forward version of Tim Duncan. His game isn't marketable enough to make up for how understated his personality is, and vice versa. Its why everyone is trying to push Antman when frankly his results to this point don't warrant it. Its like they see him as this new age Jordan but by the time MJ took the mantle, he was already winning MVPs and scoring titles and was more or less seen as the best individual player before he won a title. Ant shows the flashes of greatness and the high flying dunks that make ESPN highlights, on top of the brash and quotable personality, but he's a top 10-12 player at best. Nobody that low on the pecking order has been the league face, so maybe they're projecting him to be but that's catapulting him over people who are flat-out better and done more to warrant the crown.
Really, the whole conversation about the 'face of the league' is ridiculous. Everyone who has worn that moniker has snatched it, it's not something bestowed upon you by the media who seem obsessed with this talking point.

Agreed and it honestly doesnt matter, face of the NBA is just a term meaning casuals recognize you and might watch a game if because youre famous enough to be considered part of pop culture. It doesnt mean youre the best player, even if sometimes it turns out that way (in Lebron's case.)
The NBA only needs a "face" to reach non basketball fans, and those people dont know anything about the game anyway. So it's a meaningless designation from a qualitative standpoint.

^As an example I dont think Durant was ever really the face of the NBA. People within the NBA are putting him in that group because hes up there in accomplishment with Lebron and Steph, but Durant isnt really mainstream famous that way.
I dont think that many more moms or teenage girls or foreigners from non bball countries would recognize Durant's face compared to, say, Giannis.
The idea that Durant was some "face of the NBA" in a way Doncic or Wemby or Giannis couldnt be is nonsense.

I think Tatum is having the same issue Curry did until he broke through. Which is he's not showing he's the best player in the league or even on his own team consistently enough. Curry lost out on a FMVP because of Iggy. Tatum lost out on FMVP because of Brown. And Tatum has yet to crack the MVP award.
I found his comments humorous when he talked about his name not being with the LeBrons, Curry's and Kobes of the world and he has yet to win a MVP or FMVP and multiple championships.

No one on earth thought Iguadala was better than Curry just like no one thought Maxwell was better than Bird. Sometimes someone else deserves it that's all. Brown is actually a lot closer to Tatum than Iggy was to Curry and he basically deserved the award.
Anyway you can laugh at Tatum for wanting to reach the level of legendary players but there's nothing wrong with him aspiring to greatness and his career has certainly had a great start. Just tonight he passed Wilt for 6th most points scored before turning 27. Sure, Chamberlain didn't get to enter the NBA at the age of 19 but just the fact that that sentence can be written means that he's having a great career. He's actually got a number of records. Most points scored in a Game 7. Most playoff points since he came into the league. About to be first team AllNBA for the 4th consecutive year. Already a 6-time allstar. 5 times he's led his team to the conference finals. He's averaged over 30 for a full season. His career has an elitpe trajectory.

Is Ant better than prime Vince Carter? Tracy McGrady? Wade?
No to all 3 if you ask me. He needs to become much better at creating for others to be a real superstar.

No, no and hell no. What's weird is while he's become a much better 3point shooter, it feels like its leveled off his game somewhat. Like coming off the Olympics last summer at 23 I was expecting a bigger leap that we've seen this year.

Like coming off the Olympics last summer at 23 I was expecting a bigger leap that we've seen this year. The next step for him will have to do with how he deals with double-teams. All great young scorers go through this, especially if they are on a team with average talent. His ability to read the defense and what the team does to surround him with talent will dictate how much improvement his statistics show. They took a step backwards trading Towns in the talent department (I don't like Towns defense for winning at the championship level but a scoring wing has an easier time when his big can shoot). Whether A-Rod is there to win a championship or just cash in on the NBA TV deals remains to be seen.

Ant is not close to being the face of the league. His little run last year was clearly desperate hype from the NBA marketing teams.
He's not a top 10 player, plus he's not close to being a role model (very dumb/immature and has gotten like 4 different women pregnant). Ant's way too much of a ***** to be the face of the NBA.
All the best players right now are not Americans and we have Lebron/KD/Curry still carrying the torch despite being extremely old.
Are there any young generational level guards/wings that are Americans right now? Ant isn't, Ja isn't, Zion isn't, Jalen Brunson isn't.
Tatum is the closest, but he isn't a "generational" level talent.
