View Full Version : I’m the minority, but the Lakers don’t look that good

I’m don’t care. It’s what I see. They lost to 2 of the worst teams in the NBA. Everyone babies them. They barely beat the Mavericks who didn’t have Anthony Davis. And it took LeBron to play Captain Hero just to get by. Is that how you’re gonna rely on winning?

Naw bro. Sorry. They look okay. Don’t listen to the media who is saying they are the greatest thing since sliced bread just cus they won a couple games, but couldn’t beat the bad teams. One more loss and you’ll see all the bipolar fans saying they need this, they need that.

I’m sorry. I don’t see it.

You're 30 years old and you still make posts like this. You never make posts about the actual thread.

Mods, can we please do something about this, I keep reporting him, but nothing gets done.

300 pound beaners know as much about basketball as they do about the negative effects of type II diabetes.

Just ignore and continue on.

No one will take them seriously until it translates into the playoffs.

Pretty sure most people didn't have them being this good. Go back two months ago and Barkley is making jokes on Redick saying you can't put makeup on a pig and make it look better. Basically saying Redick hadn't made a difference and he inherited the same team Darvin Ham failed with and nothing will change that. Fast forward to now and the Lakers are a few games within the second seed and have the best defensive efficiency the last 6 weeks.

That's 5 straight, tonight against Clips.

31 Luka and 28 Lebron.

This team looks like a real contender.

It's not always beautiful, but it's been effective, and their role players (of which they have several) have been very effective at winning games. They are more entertaining than they were pre-Luka. AD could dominate in fits and spurts, and I hated to lose him.

I don't think the Mavs (without AD) played particularly well, nor did Denver. Luka has been a lil sloppy, but he'll get back in shape (relatively speaking). I think what works for the Lakers right now is that they have too many legit scoring threats that no matter who teams double, they're going to have someone open to throw daggers.

Boston, in Boston, next weekend will be a good heat check. I think the Celtics will handle their business at home, but it will give the Lakers an idea of what they need to work on.

Let's go L-Train.

We haven't really seen them play real competition yet besides the Denver game where the Nuggets came out with 0 urgency and Jokic made only 2 buckets.

Jazz, Jazz, Hornets, Blazers, shelled out Minnesota, shelled out Mavericks, etc. I guess the Clippers are alright but not close to contender.

I want to see how they do against Boston, Cleveland, OKC, Milwaukee (dear lord what Giannis would do to them in the paint), fully healthy New York, and Golden State. And Denver when they're actually coming out with sense of urgency and now having the Lakers defensive blitz gameplan on tape to plan counter plays for.

Lakers haven't built any real chemistry, plus they are dealing with injuries, and yet they have still been winning games.

Everyone knows the Lakers aren't real contenders, but they absolutely can be if they can get some big man depth and have an off-season to gel better.

They've looked up and down at times( I would think this would be expected), but the one big advantage is being able to have Lebron and/or Luka on the floor at all times. Luka has been noticeably more active defensively, and I wonder if that's taking some of his legs for offense( specifically how off he's been shooting the 3), since he's rarely given more than modest effort at that end in the best of times.

I'm as big a Laker hater as anyone, and I'd love nothing better than to see them implode, but they look sharp. Really sharp. Anyone who thinks they can't be a contender is out of their mind.

They have a legit punchers chance but if jj Reddick somehow coaches an elite playoff defense with this personel that would be incredible.

Hope Bron gives Luka the link and have him lookin like Ivan Drago in the fall.

LeBron has played well since the trade, so has Reaves. JJ doing fairly well with some game plans, especially the Denver game. Luka has mostly looked awful, but still producing, even if his game RN is half ugly.

Once Luka is back in game shape, and they’re battling for that 2 seed over the last 10-15 games, it should be fun to watch if everyone is healthy.

Can’t wait to see them at full strength versus Denver and OKC.

There's definitely a flukiness right now with how their defense has performed in these last 20 or so games but even if the defense gets worse n Lebron regresses back to where he was earlier in the season you should see a better version of Luka so I wouldn't count them out as contenders in the POs. The lack of size is only a problem in a series against Denver but Lakers can ignore some of their shooters and crowd the paint and only worry about Murray/MPJ on the perimeter.

I agree. The one thing is, at least the Lakers are now winning the games that they would have lost or split, say two or three months ago. And, you can see that the whole team is really trying on defense. But, yeah, I'd like to see us beat the Celtics.

That sounds like an excuse. They are contenders if they do good but a built in excuse if they lose. Of course they don’t have Anthony Davis anymore.

6 straight wins looks good to me. 2nd seed in the West looks good too.

Just don't think the interior defense will hold up in a playoff series.

Big Luka fan, but he needs to be surrounded by 4 good defenders that can also shoot. He uses a lot of his energy offensively and creates great shots for everyone, but we all know his defense isn't great.

Do they have the interior defense and shooting and a reliable third option? Reaves is good, but time will tell.

I don't see them beating Boston or Cleveland, but maybe a slight chance they can beat OKC and Denver.

Boston is just so damn loaded.
