And the video became less shared once current players started to do the same thing.

It's always easier to build off what someone else has done than to be the first to come up with something. Today's players build on the foundation previous players laid down. Every generation of players have done that.
Did it really take you this long to figure that out?

I think the fact that LeBron has a shot like this has you very shook.

Didn’t even count, just like Kemps dunk on Laimbeer. Was just like haha. Like when dudes throw the ball way up in the air after a foul and it swishes thru. I don’t think that was his greatness, but just a moment like yea that’s Larry.
Like the MJ arm switch was unnecessary as hell.
Still looks good on cam. Same with a dude doing a 360 dunk in the 70s would be a clip worth sharing.

Not only that, but Bird did it in a preseason game I believe. Sort of like the Curry shot over Kobe. It still happened, but how many people are aware of this who didn't watch ball back then?

Why didnt Birds count?
Ball going over the top of the backboard was illegal back then and was considered out of bounds, they changed the rules since then.

To be fair Bird and Kobe were literally behind the backboard in the paint. Where as Lebron lost his dribble and had to take a botched side line fade away. All were impressive nonetheless.

In terms of degree of difficulty, Bird's shot was the easiest. Shooting over the backboard isn't really that hard, I would do it all the time when just shooting around. Kobe did it with contact, LeBron had a super weird angle.

Um, leBrons angle is far more disgusting than the straighter line from behind the backboard where you have a direct target to shoot over. The side angle makes the calculation much more difficult.

what dude said. You can see them in most clips waving it off. He had to know it wasn't gonna count, either, he was just like **** it, which is part of the appeal imo.
Also, watching it again and seeing that he considered saving it, saw there was not a safe pass, and just jacked it up over the backboard does make it look pretty impressive haha. His head wasn't even up the whole time.

You don’t see ‘them’ show Birds behind the backboard shot anymore not because LeBron or Kobe’s was better, it’s because that clip is 40 freaking years old :oldlol:
What’s funny is i had actually forgot about bron’s shot until opening this thread today.

How long before we see this in game?
If it became the norm, then nothing special will come out of it anymore.

No. It's easier from the side as the basket is further away from thr backboard, even if it's just by little, allowing a little bit flatter curve. What makes Lebron's awesome is that he turned around against his momentum and hit the shot over the backboard. That's some great court awareness and coordinatuon.
You know what Tiefenwahrnehmung is Arby? As much as I dislike the way Lebron's game looks he has alot of that. It's on a Bird, Magic or Jason Kidd level.
