I remember the commentators and journalists saying how satisfactory that should have been for Reggie, after all the battles with the Knicks to get to the finals in the Madison Square Garden, in front of those fans that hated him. By the way, Reggie has many shots from the early 2000s playoffs that people seem to forget.
2001 Game 1: Game winning 3-pointers versus eventual Eastern Conference Champions Philadelphia 76ers. I was a big Iverson fan back then, and I was shitting myself thinking Reggie was going to send him home for the 3rd straight year.
2002 Game 5: He made a shot from almost halfcourt to send the game to overtime versus the Nets, in the first round.
2004 Game 1: Scored a clutch 3-pointer in the first game of the Eastern Conference Finals versus the Pistons.
Summing up, even when he was in his late 30s he was a very, very dangerous player in the clutch. Definetely earned his place in the Top 75 players of all-time.

Tbf though, he did make this shot after the buzzer, with replay it wouldn't have counted.

Just checked that 2004 game 1... what hilarious scoring ineptitude.
Pacers go from 5:20 to 1:25 4 mins without a point, Pistons went over 6 mins without a FG until that 3 with 1:40 left.
As for the clutchness, yes nice collection, but nothing too outrageous imo. This one was a bit of an open 3 off a screen.
Remins me of Rays GW against the Bulls in 09 where he came off a screen.

Yes, those Pistons and Pacers team were built around defense lol Anyway, the collection I put was in his down years, you can go and check the 1994 or 1995 playoffs to see what he was able to do in the post-season. I didn't follow that much the career of Melo, T-Mac, Vince Carter, George Gervin or Bernard King. I guess they must have been doing this type of thing every year in May and June.

At his peak McGrady was a significantly better player than Reggie ever was. If he was on those early 2000's Magic teams I don't even know if they'd win 30 games.

It's a Lebron vs Curry thing.

Apples and oranges. Those were all dominant scorers and mostly wings. Reggie was obviously a better pure shooter than any of them, so thus in a situation where one shot is needed then he's going to convert more of those...again being a better shooter and playing off-ball offensively as a shooter running off screens being set up for said shot.

Well, some of you guys mention that being clutch is very important. Now all of a sudden you make a u-turn and it is not that relevant anymore? Just becaue it does not fit your agenda?

I don't really view one shot really as clutch, but rather an either sustained or elevated performance in big moments in general. Not to say who is or isn't clutch out of the people discussed in this thread, but in a vacuum the better shooter is going to convert individual jump shots at a higher rate.

This was redemption for him after choking in 99. Sucks that they didnt have Antonio when they finally made the Finals because they could have used him against Shaq at his absolute peak.
