And a way weaker conference.

He fell off more physically and his shot didn't have enough arc to adjust.
No biggie, Karl Malone was better than MJ at age 40 too.
Lebron is probably the best 40 year old ever, but imo Karl Malone would be almost as good today.

Being away from basketball for 3 years while not living the healthiest lifestyle is not good for an athlete in their late 30s. He elevated a 19-win Washington squad to a Playoff contender and was a top 10 player in the league at 39 prior to his knee injury, even though his athleticism had already faded. Lebron spends millions per year to keep himself in shape and the league is much less physical than it was 20+ years ago so I don't see why people even want to compare the two situations as if they're the same.

He elevated them to a team that still missed the playoffs in the worst east ever. The 1 seed was the only 50 win team in the conference.
And for the record we compare Lebrons career to everything as if it's the same and not an eyebrow is raised. Keep that same energy both ways.

Wow. The non-stop damage control threads just shows how desperate all the Bronie fluffers are getting. No confidence at all in their hero.
Just think, if Lebron gets FMVP this year, he STILL won't have caught Jordan.

Because he is an inferior NBA basketball player.
That's all there is.

If MJ was the GOAT he would NOT have fallen off.
But he fell off the cliff.

So you're saying that LeBron played at a higher level for considerably longer than MJ and with WAY more help and yet he still managed to win less championships...?

The NBA was a lot more difficult to play offensively back in Jordan's era. In today's NBA offensives get free motion and it's protected. No hand-checking, the offensive player is protected and the style of play today is far more easier on the longevity of the NBA player's body with the amount of threes they take versus going to the basket and working in the post.
LeBron is a prime example because he takes care of his body more than anyone. Also, for all we know maybe he does take some sort of enhancers to improve recovery. That's just speculation.
But LeBron is not the only example. Curry and Durant are still playing at an All NBA Level at 36-37 years old which was pretty rare back in Jordan's day as well. Why? They take a large amount of jumpshots with less wear and tear and they're style of play increases their longevity.
Jordan is a more well rounded individual who had better things to do
So LeBron is better at basketball. Got it.

They were likely going to make the Playoffs until MJ injured his knee. I'm talking about his season at 39 because he was finished after his knee injury but pre-injury was a top 10 player just like Lebron was at 39 last year.
Wizards had won 21 out of their last 31 games and MJ averaged 25/6/6 in that stretch (which is elite for a guard in 2002) but injured his knee against Sacramento the game after and then had another injury shortly after against Miami when he tried to play through it which pretty much ended his season and his ability to still be a top 10 player in the league at that age.
Injuries are a death blow at that age. Also the people hyping up Malone as better than MJ (and close to what Bron is right now) at 40 - Malone was 40 when he joined the Lakers and averaged 13 a game and was forced to retire after his knee injury. I'd say Jordan was better than Malone at 39 up until his knee injury - his numbers took a massive hit after he returned from injury to play like 20 mpg at the end of the season.

:applause: you're using reasoning and it makes sense. So why is this reasoning unavailable when it comes to Lebron? We see all the time he missed the playoffs with AD and Westbrook but never see that AD missed half the season and Lebron himself missed like a quarter or a third of the season(I'll look it up later but it doesn't change the thought). You don't think the Lakers make the playoffs if at minimum Lebron played most of the season too? Im sure they do. This is the entire reason for me saying keep that energy.
We are capable of better banter on this site but most are too in their feelings about wanting the outcome of the debate to end a certain way that alot of it comes across stupid and hypocritical. If we're using that same awesome reasoning you found on your way here it changes a ton of debates:
If Kobe doesn't get hurt in the series against indy, does he maybe haul in a fmvp in that 3peat and completely change perspectives on his ranking?
Does a healthy Bynum in 08 give him a 2nd 3peat?
Does a scottie who took some aspirin help Mj get past Detroit sooner?
Does a scottie with a healthy back win a fmvp in the 2nd 3peat?
Hell this one will bake your noodle: Does a healthy Ron Harper deliver Rodman a fmvp in 96? (trust me it's an unexpected rabbit hole.)
Does Lebron cook the warriors in 2015 with his 2nd and 3rd option healthy?
How much does a healthy Larry Hughes change the 2007 finals on TP and providing another threat on the floor?
We could go on and on my gripe has always been if we must compare there needs to be one standard we use to judge the players.

Same reason why MJ wasn’t as good as Bron at 30.

Because MJ turned a franchise that never won into a dynasty vs only winning 1 title in 11 years for the franchise that drafted him. Lebron never won a title with fans in the arena for the Lakers despite playing 8 years with them.

Because Lebron won bronze medal and lost with HCA multiple times to a career loser in Dwight Howard.

When Lebron hits 41, he'll probably be better than Jordan at his age for the first time in his career. Probably.

The trolling goes both ways here. The kind of people I reply to are not interested in a serious discussion so I'll jab them back using their own flawed logic/trolling when it comes to stuff like "x player missed playoffs with x guys" since they did it non-stop with Kobe after the 2013 season, even though he carried that team to the Playoffs despite the injuries to his supporting cast. The same guys would relentlessly make topics about Kobe missing the 2013 Playoffs even though he'd have played in the Playoffs barring the season-ending achilles injury.
There's no standards on ISH. I stopped coming here regularly a while ago because I don't engage with the product nearly as much as I did in the past as the quality of play has watered down over the years to where it's just not as enoyable anymore. Playoffs are still exciting though. ISH is like a time-capsule, and no matter how much time you take off you'll still find the same few trolls shit-posting here about Kobe/MJ/Lebron whenever you do come back.

I get that. Honestly there's only a handful of dedicated trolls left here, there's almost everyone else here that engages in half hearted trolling at some point, which is cool at times i guess. Part of the charm of this place is it isn't as uptight as the other one. And yeah that's 1000% true you can not visit for a while and log back in without having missed much lol.
