The East only has 6 winning teams :facepalm

Somehow the Pistons are a part of that, I wouldnt be surprised if they drop.

Only one of those has a win rate of 71% or higher.

Butler abandoning Miami and the Sixers being done has left the conference in ruins.

And the Bucks are no longer a contender after switching Budenholzer for Doc Rivers.

2 of the 3 most likely champions and the current champion are in the East. Last year's tough West yielded a conference Champion that lost in the Finals 4-1.

I'm curious OP, how many legit contenders do you think are in the West? I have OKC, Lakers, Denver & Warriors, but I'm not buying Memphis, Houston or the Clippers. While I'm not disputing your overall point, wouldn't you say both conferences have 4 real contenders each?

I do not have the Knicks and Bucks as real contender.

I have the Knicks and Celtics, and OKC/Denver/lakers in the West.

But theres a lot more going on beyond that in the West.

More teams with upset/game winning potential, to just make the path longer.

So team record somehow matters when you are saying the whole conference is a joke but then is unimportant when we're pointing out who actually has the best record in the entire league? Cleveland has some of the best defensive bigs and one of the best offenses. Lakers don't even have centers and Denver hasn't given any reason to be rated above Cleveland this season (nor has LA).

The Cavs would definitely give the Lakers a lot of problems.

The gap between the Cavs / Thunder and everyone else is also huge...

1-6 in the East have better records than 1-6 in the West.

West was much stronger last year. This is the weakest the West has looked in forever.

How many times does a team not in a 1/2 seed make the finals...like 15% of the time.

Playoff Jimmy just spoiled everyone into forgetting that NBA season doesn't really start until Rd 2 of the playoffs

The Mavs last year, the Heat in 2023, the Warriors in 2022, the Bucks in 2021, the Heat in 2020, the Cavs in 2018. Seems to happen almost every year now.

Move Memphis to the East and introduce Las Vegas as new team.

Guess I'm going to have to do the math...

47 - 1/2, 48 - 1/2, 49 - 1/2
50 - 1/2, 51 - 2/3, 52 - 2/3, 53 - 1/1, 54 - 1/1, 55 - 1/1, 56 - 1/1. 57 - 1/1, 58 - 1/1 59 - 1/2
60 - 1/1, 61 - 1/1, 62 - 1/1, 63 - 1/1, 64 - 1/1, 65 - 1/1, 66 - 1/2. 67 - 1/1, 68 - 2/2 69 - 1/4
70 - 1/2, 71 - 1/1, 72 - 1/2, 73 - 2/2, 74 - 1/1, 75 - 1/2, 76 - 1/3. 77 - 1/3, 78 - 3/4 79 - 1/1
80 - 1/3, 81 - 1/6, 82 - 1/3, 83 - 1/1, 84 - 1/1, 85 - 1/1, 86 - 1/2. 87 - 1/1, 88 - 1/2 89 - 1/1
90 - 1/3, 91 - 1/3, 92 - 1/1, 93 - 1/2, 94 - 2/2, 95 - 1/6, 96 -1/1 . 97 - 1/1, 98 - 1/1 99 - 1/8
00 - 1/1, 01 - 2/1, 02 - 1/3, 03 - 1/2, 04 - 1/1, 05 - 2/3, 06 - 2/4. 07 - 2/3, 08 - 1/1 09 - 1/3
10 - 1/4, 11 - 2/3, 12 - 2/2, 13 - 1/2, 14 - 1/1, 15 - 1/2, 16 - 1/1. 17 - 1/2, 18 - 2/4 69 - 1/2
20 - 1/5, 21 - 2/3, 22 - 2/3, 23 - 1/8, 24 - 1/5

So in 79 recorded series 158 teams 27 have not been a 1 or 2
1/2 - 82%
1/2/3 - 90%

And now looking at the numbers if Jimmy Butler takes a third low seeded team to the finals...f it I'm ranking him ahead of Durant, Jokic, Giannis and your boy Shaq
