The closest player to peak embiid in the current NBA is shai. so mini embiid destroyed jokic...of course its no threads....no espn articles....nothing...This game was pretty much for the MVP. and just like the last time when he pretty much "played for the mvp" in a game. He was destroyed again.... Jokic goes from 30-20-20 vs the bum ass suns who play bradley beal as their defensive stopper (lmao) to losing by damn near 30 vs a star not even in his prime.....Shades of ant man anyone? anyway im sure this thread will be ignored like the plague. so i'll see my way out

And he only went 24, 13 and 9 with three blocks and a steal. So yeah, he personally got destroyed by Shai, individually. You do understand, don’t you, that the two don’t match up against each other? And right now, OKC is a deeper, better team than Denver, which has hamstrung itself with the cap. But I will say this much for both SGA and Joker - they both play and neither of them duck games where the competition might be rough, unlike some other players.

SGA has nothing in common with embiid, in style of play or frequency of play.

SGA making a real case for best player in the league. Historic season from him. If he can win a ring this year would be huge for his legacy.

You don't have to go head to head against someone to outplay them. And SGA clearly outplayed Jokic in this game. And by the way, SGA also had three blocks.

They have the flopping in common.

this is very typical of jokic fans, they only hype him up when he posts crazy stats. when he loses or gets kicked out of the playoffs early, it's always murrays fault, never his own doing. he cannot possibly ever be at fault.

Apparently according to Duffy it was the cap's fault this time.

Pretty sure I saw that Mitchell and Mobley were in the Top 5 for +/- leaders in the league with around +500-550. Mobley was second I believe. First? SGA, he was over 700+ lol

When SGA steps on the court the Thunder are just blowing teams out of the water.

Anyone else really hope Jimmy Butler knocks both of these guys out in the playoffs.

They didn't win the title. Does that not make them contenders this year? You are so confusing lol.

What did Jimmy Butler do last year? wtf :lol

Pretty sure okc became favorites right when they picked up Hartenstein.

I didn’t say it was the cap’s fault that they lost this game. The impact of the cap on how teams progress is enormous. Denver built their team, which won a chip, before the apron rules went into effect. That put them in a situation where they basically could not afford to re-sign Bruce Brown and KCP (and to a lesser extent Jeff Green). Thus, there team last year was significantly worse.

Braun, Watson and Strawther have developed nicely and, with the replacement of Westbrook for Reggie Jackson, they are better than last year, but still not at the level they were when they won.

OKC is right now a better regular season team. They have yet to prove themselves in the post season, but this year they are certainly strong contenders.

Shai played just OK. Jokic played great. But the difference was the collective 3 point barrage. I don't care how good your defense is when 1-5 is hitting like 60% on open 3's you're toast.

Don’t be a jerk. The cap makes a difference in how good the teams are, and OKC is definitely a better regular season team, even though they only split vs. Denver this year. Under the pre-apron rules, Denver would probably still have Bruce Brown and KCP. With the development of Braun, Watson, and Strawther, they would have some true depth, instead of having to pray that they will get through the non-Jokic minutes.

And it’s just ridiculous and stupid to make broad pronouncements because of a single game. Shai didn’t destroy Jokic last night, and Jokic did not destroy Shai tonight. I would love to see these teams meet in the playoffs, and would definitely root for Denver. But I don’t know who would win, and would probably give the edge to OKC. Maybe not, though.
