Im kinda mind blown right now. The meaning of their name just now occurred to me - the Oregon Trail!

But so why the PORTLAND Trail Blazers?? It kinda disguises the meaning of their name. I guarantee 90% of NBA fans have never thought about what their name means. Including you guys even tho youll all pretend youd already made the connection.

Thats so weird they didnt do that. The Trail Blazers name is obviously no coincidence, but why Portland instead of Oregon?

Unless only the city of Portland financed the team and therefore hogged the naming clout. But even so, the name would be cooler if they used the form that would actually resonate with more people. Why dont they just extend it to reflect the state? Theres never gonna be another team in Oregon to be confused with.
