View Full Version : MJ faced dynasties in the 80's East, so why was it ok for Lebron to team up?

And the 2010 Celtics were already a massive underdog to the Cavs and 32-34 years old, while MJ beat a core that was 27-29 years old (Isiah, Dumars, Rodman) and defending champion dynasty.

Don't complain about not having Pippen because the Cavs' 3rd option was a better scorer than Pippen, while those Cavs had better defensive rankings than the 1st three-peat Bulls.. (Jamison was a rare 20k scorer that outplayed Lebron in the 07; Playoffs and had more all-star appearances or MVP votes than 2008 Pau Gasol for example).

Mj couldn't even beat his meat until he had a team that was favored in probably every series.

The "dynasty" he beat:

Eastern Conference Finals: -270

"The Last Dance" paints a definitive narrative from Michael Jordan's point of view, and part of that narrative is that in 1991 the Bulls were scrappy underdogs. The documentary series makes a point to elicit the suggestion from players and beat writers that the defending champion Pistons were heavy favorites — they were a juggernaut the Bulls couldn't get past.

Yet, oddsmakers had the Bulls as the favorites in the East even before the playoffs began and nearly 3-1 favorites vs. those very Pistons in the Eastern Conference Finals.

And once he reached the finals?

1991 vs lakers -200
1992 vs blazers -250
1993 vs phoenix -240
1996 vs sonics -950!!!
1997 vs Utah -600!!!
1998 vs Utah -115

With those odds no wonder he went 6 for 6.

Wow, Jordan didn't win as a massive underdog? You don't say!

On the other hand, Lebron has multiple choke jobs as a massive favorite.

:lebroncry:

He was favored to win 3 times in the finals....winning 2 of the 3. So he lost one finals he was expected to win by Vegas and was expected to lose most of the time, yet still sits here today with 4 rings. Mj faced dynasties in the east as a non-conteder. Lebron faced dynasties for chips, entirely different situations.

When Jordan finally stopped losing Pippen outscored Ewing, Isiah AND Magic on their way to the title, and was only 2 ppg away from Barkley.

Nice cherry picking. What about playoff series. He's lost multiple times as a favorite. The most recent being 2021 when the underdog Suns spanked him and Devin Booker mentally broke him. Remember that? If not, you should go back and rewatch it. :lol

Lebron played with Shaq who won league mvp and 3 finals mvp's and lost in round 2. Lebron played with Peak Duncan who had won 2 league mvp's and 3 finals mvp's and won bronze medal. Lebron played with Peak Wade who won finals mvp and got outplayed by Jason Terry. Lebron played with Derrick Rose who won mvp under age 30 which was the same as Kevin Durant who won mvp under 30 while both were on Golden State and Cleveland. Lebron played with mulitple PER leaders as well and now Russell Westbrook a league mvp winner and more triple doubles than Oscar Robertson. Yet despite all of that Lebron lost with all of them.

http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showthread.php?500416-Why-did-Pelinka-surround-Lebron-with-a-bullshit-roster
He has peak Anthony Davis, the best player on the 2020 squad and the reason the Lakers did anything as the 2019 Lakers missed the playoffs and 2021 Lakers lost in round 1 when AD wasn't around. He has Prime Melo who won a scoring title and all time leader in scoring for the Olympics. He has Dwight Howard a 3x DPOY and a guy who beat Lebron without HCA. He has Westbrook who is the modern day Oscar Robertson and also won league mvp along with average a Triple Double 4 years in a row. He also has Rondo who is a hall of famer.

Why didn't he play it against Dwight Howard in 2009 when Dwight was dominating http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showthread.php?459570-How-is-it-even-possible-to-lose-to-Dwight-Howard-in-a-series-with-HCA/page10? Or against Duncan or KG or Dirk? Why did he run away from KD a guy at his position?
http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showthread.php?489748-When-KD-and-Lebron-go-head-to-head

Why didn't he do **** against Booker in the playoffs as well?

Difference between Lebron and Tmac?
http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showthread.php?494830-Difference-between-Lebron-and-Tmac
Both 0-2 with HCA against 50+ win teams until they joined forces with someone who won as the man. Also won bronze medals.

Tmac lost to Utah in 2007 while Lebron was losing to a career loser in Dwight Howard and also Carlos Arroyo in the Olympics with peak Tim Duncan on his squad despite playing more minutes than Hakeem even played on the 1996 Olympic team.

you may the only poster here I've never seen get anything right. Even trolls or a nut like 3ball can at least be correct on part of an argument, but you? Never.

The 2021 series, against the Suns, where the Lakers were up 2-1 and AD pulls his groin in game 4? Doesn't play in game 5? Plays 5 minutes in game 6? That's the series you want to run with? Meanwhile Scottie Pippen gets a headache and we still hear about 30 something years later? Cmon man.
