Giddey, Huerter, Buzeles, Vucevic and then Cody White (not white).

Played great defense and great pace, typical white ball, just like how I would play it.

It really stressed out Luka who had to run on both offense and defense.

You’re white?! Damn I didn’t expect that one.

Those 4 white guys must really be gearing up to play for a champiosnhip then? I probably shouldn't even participate in this one :oldlol:

They looked real good last night, could be an upset in the playoffs. Coby White is also very good actually and his role as a joker scorer with Giddey running the point is good for him.

If they make it out of the play-in, they'll be playing either the Celtics or Cavs in the first round. There won't be any upset.

being 29th on OTRB and 28th on OTOV means that'd need a whole lotta home cooking to pull off the upset comeplayoff

A game from 2002 Team USA vs Yugoslavia came up on YouTube, and it's here you can see the biggest difference in play styles. Yugoslavia actually runs offensive sets and swing the ball around, while Team USA just tries to iso everything. They also seem clueless on how to deal with the zone defense that was being played against them.

if anything, it demonstrates how toxic the echo of the media did to Team USA players. again, there seems to be an increased chance of success for NBA player at the international stage when they partake in the TV/Movie industry.

Yep. That was classic post-MJ American basketball.

The literal thought process, Im not even being facetious, became "MJ made it look easy to just go iso and win games, so I guess that means any dark sinned kid in baggy shorts with hops and swag can do that too!"

And that genuinely became nearly all that scouts and executives started looking for. Except for the Spurs who - not coincidentally - became a dynasty. And the youth development programs stopped bothering with teaching, and instead became marketing mills for coaches and parents and agents and handlers to get a piece of the billion dollar gatorade and nike pie from their next big time superstar. Just let him go out there and do hanging fadeaways every time he touches the ball, and watch the jersey revenue pile up! It's ofc not a question of any race being ABLE to play the right way, guys were doing it since the 80s and earlier, but it became a cultural and even business expectation of young black players to put mimicking MJ above whatever made sense for the team.

A lot of people think the game was so low scoring in the 00s because defense was so tough and this and that, but you might argue it was simply the inept offenses of the "And1 meets NBA" era. Andray Blatche, Dilbert Arenas (people here still think he was some great player bc point totals), JR Smith, I mean it was really a joke in a lot of ways. These guys were told to pretty much go out there and put on a circus. They had no idea how to play basketball.

Thank goodness LeRightWay came in and reminded people the effectiveness of team play. And the league has been on the right trajectory ever since :pimp:

Well to be fair the international reams spend a lot more time together to work up offensive sets than the usa team that is thrown together for a few days before they start playing games. By 2002 and 2004 the usa picking guys based on marketing than for putting the best team out there had caught up with them

White ball is usually more team oriented.

I dislike the all team, no individualism of teams like Serbia though. I prefer anglo-basketball like Australia or the US, which play hard, work together but let individuals shine.

The NBA players were running those same sets in the NBA.

The Sacramento Kings were the only team back then that had that magical passing energy to them and lo and behold Vlade Divac was their center.

The white boys play the game as more of a team perspective by nature instead of trying to show off with fancy dunks, fadeaways, crossovers, and general one-ups-manship via 1v1 for brag rights.

Jokic is basically the evolution of Sabonis and Divac.

That Kings defensive weakness was offensive player who would grab their own rebound

Shaq was a problem but only because NBA aka WWE let him get away with it.

2002 was a travesty.

lakers also had reaves and luka starting. overall white players outnumbered black players at tip off. the NBA is healing.

Andre Miller minutes are the only watchable ones for Team usa at the end of q1. Will report back.
