In the past few months, players have been moving up the All-Time scoring list at an alarming rate. But how did the 50 scoring list look 30 years ago? There are the totals at the end of the 1994 NBA season. The top 50 then, and in parentheses where that player sits at currently.

I'm sure with Kareem being so far ahead of everyone, no one could ever imagine him being passed.
Alex English (not Dominique Wilkins) was the biggest Top 50 snub. Dude retired as the 6th leading scorer of All-Time. How disrespectful to have more points than All but 6 players and not be voted top 50.

That list excludes ABA which is why the order is a little funky. Julius Erving should be much higher, Dan Issell should be on that list along with Rick Barry and Artis Gillmore.

Alex English belonged in the top 75 and Mark Aguire belongs in the Hall of Fame

Yes, this list excludes the ABA. Just NBA stats. Rick Barry is here, number 31, right above Doc.

It is strange to see some names so high in the list (Havlicek, Alex English, etc.). It seems that as time goes by people forget about all the stars except household names (Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, etc.). Also, as I read Hayes' name I remember I read a magazine article in the year 2000 about the evolution of the PFs and he was considered the number 2 GOAT PF in that article, after Karl Malone. He was at the 6th position in points all-time and 4th all-time in rebounds, or something like that. Funny that considering now he will vaguely be in the top 5-GOAT PF.

Elvin Hayes retired as the number 3 scorer and rebounder of all times. He's down 13 in points but only has lost one slot in rebounds.

I’ve seen guys fading Hayes hard with advanced statistics and saying he’s overrated. But guys who were around back then say he was the man.

He was an All-Star every year in the 1970s. Also, just found this out like right now ... he only missed 9 games in his entire career. 82 games played 8x, 81 games 7x and one season he had a down year and played only 80. Wonder how many were from injuries and how many from suspension. I can guarantee nine were from rest lol.

The advanced stats thing is always going to be unfair to the older guys. The newer players can mold themselves around them in a way the older players didn't, because those things weren't being tracked in the first place. It's reduced arguing about players to a spreadsheet.
