I’m surprised he only scored 100 once. That game was just 73. Once he’s got it on his spot I guess you’re just hoping he has an awful shooting night.

For those who are experiencing crack withdrawals and can't load the gifs because their neighbor changed the Wi-Fi password, it's Wilt hitting fadeaway jumpers.

Wembanyama really should just put in some work on lower body strength. If he was good at establishing position the league would be helpless.

I feel like the highlights you typically see for Wilt and even Kareem does them a disservice. It leaves you with the impression that the former was mostly overpowering guys and the latter only scored with the skyhook. They both had more in their bag than most of the clips they tend to show would have you believe.

yeah, the people in charge of such things really always show the same clips. There are legitimately games where Wilt took 25 fadeaways and seven or eight finger rolls

And really it’s even worse with Kareem. He was hitting midrange pull-up jumpers, spinning finger rolls, lefty hooks….

All they ever show is the same five or six standard sky hooks. They will show footage of him playing wilt and show the same two blocks from Wilt and the same couple dunks from Kareem like in the same game he isn’t going coast to coast and doing a euro step over 50 years ago at 7’3”

they have all that footage and in much better quality than I had it when I used to put together videos trying to show that these old people weren’t what they seem, but they aren’t motivated to put it together properly.

There’s no return on the investment getting young fans to understand that people who are retired or dead were great as well.

i’d say it looks awkward because nobody does it that way. It’s basically a long ass banked in floater.

You go way back in the day. A lot of people‘s signature moves. Look weird to the modern eye because it was before everyone had training to be the same.

There’s no YouTube and for him almost no film to even see how other people played. He had giant hands so he could wave it around to keep it away from people and he learned to just fade off one or 2 feet and flick it in one handed.

Nobody shoots finger roll like he did either. Well, I’ve seen a couple people do it. I’ve seen Dr. J do the kind of reverse palming behind the body flick finger roll, but not many times.

I used to do it a bit because I had big hands and could jump and I could go up one handed like that, but I was never skilled enough to really let it roll off my fingers like a Gervin or Dr. J of course.

I did it because I saw Dr. J do it and I loved stealing his moves where he would wave the ball around a bit because that was the only thing I could do better than the other kids because I have big hands.

And now that I think about it, I’ve seen Mark Aguirre do some of that as well.

And Connie Hawkins had a little bit of it. I’m thinking it was a trait of the giant hand people from the 70s and earlier.

People don’t really develop individually anymore, though. At some point, a really promising kid has a trainer who beats it out of them and make them play the way everyone else does.

Wilt gets a bad rap because people think all he did was dunk or finger roll. It was actually hard in the paint back then. Wilt was also a Globetrotter. They didn't just take anyone on their team.

Just foul his ass and make him shoot FTs. Bring in an end of the bench guy and get your 6 fouls on him.

sometimes they did. That particular game he shot 15 of 19 from the line taking granny shots.
