100% bet you Draymond snitched. Morant just won't learn what not to do to get in trouble considering his past.
The NBA is looking into Memphis' Ja Morant using finger gun motions toward the Golden State Warriors bench last night, sources tell me and
@espn_macmahon.

Ja Morant is the biggest offender in the history of the league with carrying the ball so the more time he is off the camera the better.
Not trying to wish the dude death or anything but he's made millions upon millions so he's set for life. His style of play will be a bad influence on the league.
Those things considered, I hope they get rid of his ass.

It's ridiculous that this issue could be what wrecks his career but I can't think of many players that wouldn't have gotten the hint by now.

The league care because they made $13 billion in revenue in 2024. They can't have players going out publicly brandishing guns irresponsibly and making gestures like he has done given his past behavior hurting the brand or image of the league. No one would care if he didn't work for an organization that has children as a large part of their fanbase. It sends the wrong message if they let shit like that stand. I don't want kids making gun gestures at each other during elementary or high school games. These kids look up to players like Morant and they'll copy that behavior. He has a responsibility to be smarter.

Exactly, it's an image. The NBA has to appeal to not just its fans, but also to companies that feel comfortable with the product. It's not ticket sales that make the money, it's revenue from essentially endorsements/ads.
This isn't even controversial. The 2000s and Iverson's image and Stern's coming down on that image was more of an issue.

Given his past behavior it could not be okay.
We'll see what the NBA says. He's not in trouble yet.

Stern was stern on that shit. He wanted to protect the image of the league so much that Iverson was the reason players who weren't active for the game had to wear suits or dress up on the sidelines.

It's just an amazing level of immaturity. Or maybe just thoughtlessly getting caught up in the moment. Whatever it is, this video isn't even being a bad guy and IMO most players would get away with a warning at most. It should be nothing, except for the fact that he has a history and he has to have enough sense to realize that's a bad idea.

True. He doesn't deserve to be in this league. He may be talented but this awful display of character is why he doesn't have any first team honors yet, as well as getting suspensions and being probed from time to time too. Guys like brunson and haliburton are much better as professional athletes.

There was some high school kids that he beat up but the details around that aren't clear. If they're going to let guys like Kevin Porter and Miles Bridges have careers he shouldn't be banned.

I love how mad people are getting over this. I hope he keeps doing it. Then like him you don't understand what the purpose of a warning is. The gesture of itself is stupid but not a big deal. The disrespect he's showing to the commissioner and whoever else was involved in this warning is what is going to get him slammed. He's already had a season ruined by some gun crap. He's already been slammed and somehow he's stupid enough to dare them to do it again. He's no Lebron, not a superstar that the league wouldn't make an example of.

So what do you think is going to happen? A player making 40 million a year gets hit with a 100K fine? He's taking the piss because he knows the Players Association has his back, and his team won't suspend him when they're about to go into the Playoffs. It's not a problem when other players do gun gestures and throw up gang signs but now I'm supposed to be upset over Ja doing it? He's getting the attention that he wants because people get outraged over everything nowadays.

He hasn't done anything bad off the court since. At least nothing that we know of.
He's acting out during games because no one's talked about him since so this is all just a stunt for him and it's working. They need to ban the gesture. A warning does nothing because this is the most publicity he's had in years and whatever fine is thrown his way is worth it for him.

https://nypost.com/2025/04/04/sports/ja-morant-does-gun-celebration-again-before-hitting-grizzlies-game-winner/ That's what I was reacting to. At first I shook my head at his stupidity but when he was just given a warning figured he had gotten away with it. But it's like he wants to be suspended. He lost his mind last night. Along with repeating the finger gun gestures he intentionally got a tech shoving one of the Heat players out of bounds. He's asking for it.
