Let's be honest. Trump got spooked about the bond market crashing and he removed the tariffs from everyone but China to save himself the embarrassment.
I cant even imagine what China needs from the U.S.
Americans on the other hand.. will suffer. The majority of Americans still dont know how tariffs work.

This whole thing is a nightmare. China and the US need to be working together, with each other. Not against each other. There is absolutely no reason to pit ourselves against each other.

China upped the ante matching Trump's 125% tariffs on US goods...they don't GAF.
Of course 19-87 IQ Lakers gonna post Fox News and some goofball MAGA cultist as his sources  Meanwhile everyone else sees that China is the real winner in this idiotic trade war vs the world Trump started. Dude is talking about bombing Yemen, Mexico, Iran and taking Gaza, Canada, Greenland and Panama. The US still thinking the world looks at China as a threat though :lol

Of course they care, only a low IQ individual like yourself would believe otherwise. Their economy is going to shit right now because they profit more than any country in the world in trade and the rest of the world is running to the USA for a deal. Trump backed them into a corner and now they will have no choice but to make a deal.
Even this morning when China announced more tariffs they stated they will not rise anymore. They are shook.

Meanwhile the EU is looking away from the US and trying to make more trade deals with China and MercoSur :lol You get your sources from Fox News, you have no idea what really is going on. BTW, the Chinese are so spooked that they said they would go toe to toe with the US in any type of war they want, oooh they're spooked :lol
The US buys much much more from China than China buys from the US, many of which are only produced in China and not easily replaceable. China has the upper hand, if this drags on, Chinese leadership won't change no matter what, Trump can be a lame duck as early as in 2026. Our economy is consumer based, US consumer sentiment is now second lowest since 1952. That means people don't buy shit, the economy slows down to a crawl, companies start laying off workers, home owners default and cars don't sell...
Simple equation, if this goes on, both countries will get hit hard but the Chinese people can't do shit about it...Americans can and will. The US is handicapped from the get go. You are so very stupid if you can't see the obvious. On top of that, Trump has alienated long time allies that he should have tried to win over for a trade war vs China but Canada hates the US now
There is a way to combat China in a trade war but hooo boy, this is the most retarded way to go about it and doomed to fail.

Same people who you watch are the same people who told you Harris was going to win.
He's not flipping Michigan, if he flips a Blue Wall state, it's more likely gonna be Wisconsin or Pennsylvania. If he flips Michigan, that means his odds of winning all 3 BWSs are huge and that's just not happening with how close this election is, it would be the equivalent of the Democrats taking all the Sun Belt states, Arizona, Nevada, North Carolina and Georgia, and that ain't happening.
Polls only tell you so much and it's a snapshot of the race at that particular moment, not what will happen on election day. The most accurate polls are the ones days ahead of the election...and as I've said many times, it's a close race and it's gonna come down to who turns out their base along with whom the independents break towards to...in short, Trump's ace is that hidden Trump vote, Harris is higher turnout means that people who don't usually vote are voting and that favors the Democrats.
In the end, betting markets and polls tell you so much, the betting sites 1987_Lakers loves to quote were way off in 2016 and two years ago.
Posting paragraphs about shit that you ended up being wrong about. All that posting for nothing. :oldlol:

China’s economy going down to 2008 levels. They will fold. Make America Great Again.
Why do you think Trump folded with the tariffs? The bond market will bring America down. When the bond market was failing, it wasn't even China that iniated it. It was Japan. Japan alone dropping U.S. treasuries was enough to raise yields over night.
China, Japan and Korean own about 2 Trillion U.S. Debt alone. China has about 900 million of that.
What happened last week was just a warning to Trump, and Trump got scared.

I ate crow on that one, I didn't run away but presidential predictions and being able to discern which country has the upper hand in an economic trade war with all the data out there are two very different things. China is not gonna fold and they already have a bigger share of manufacturing trade deals than the US with other countries.
China shows zero signs of backing down, Trump already backed down due to the bonds market. If China decides to go nuclear and sell all their US bonds, it's game over, do you dimwits understand that?

Just had a very productive call with To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, who told me that Vietnam wants to cut their Tariffs down to ZERO if they are able to make an agreement with the U.S. I thanked him on behalf of our Country, and said I look forward to a meeting in the near future.

Their top TEAM is on a plane heading to the U.S., and things are looking good. We are likewise dealing with many other countries, all of whom want to make a deal with the United States. Like with South Korea, we are bringing up other subjects that are not covered by Trade and Tariffs, and getting them negotiated also.

Well I guess everyone is different, I sometimes go days where I don't check in here and sometimes I post various times during the day. I'm in a different stage of my life, I'm married and have kids, I don't feel the need to let people here know what I do on my free time.

As I said, you believe EVERYTHING Trump says.
Trump has begun backing down, he exempted Chinese products last night after he said no more exemptions while China has stood firm. Funny you didn't address that lol
The products you say are exempt, like phones and TVs, are still getting the 20% tariff that was first put up, so not exempt.
China has publicly said that they won't go higher than 125%, because it doesn't matter if you go higher as products are already too costly at that rate.
I think we can all agree that great that 70 countries have already reached out expressing interest in making a new deal, it shows that there's room for improvement from the old ones.

Is that why countless countries are currently running to Trump for a deal?
I cant say for certain if thats true. What I DO know is that countries are running to eachother to make deals to bypass Trump. Nobody knows what Trump is thinking, so it's risky for any country to deal with just the U.S. at this point.

This probably takes the cake as the weirdest statement you've ever made trying to get a "win" on MAGA, like what in the actual **** lol.
The fact that past politicians sold out America for the benefit of corporations and Trump pointing out this over and over and over again, is why he was elected President. And you come here presenting it as an "unpleasant truth about America that MAGA don't want to recognize" :oldlol:
Do you understand that tariffs are a fee for companies to pay on the initial value of their imported product and not a fee for the Chinese govt?
Example:
Without tariff: Produce in China for $40, sell in the US for $150, make $110.
With 25% tariff: Produce in China for $40, pay $10 in US tariff, sell in US for $150, make $100.
And in case your next trick is to say something like "oh but Trump doesn't highlight how it was our own politicians who helped create this mess and is instead just blaming China", let's have a look at a recent press release from the Trump Whitehouse:
Last night, President Donald J. Trump made clear whose side he is on — everyday Americans, not the globalist politicians who have spent decades selling out American workers to foreign countries.

With 25% tariff: Produce in China for $40, pay $10 in US tariff, sell in US for $160, make $110.
Solution:
Because of social media, the company is quickly outed for not wanting to produce in the US and instead hiking their prices. People start boycotting the company + the natural lower number of sales on a more expensive product, causing a 10% drop in sales and less profit for the company than just paying the tariff.
I bet you'd argue for higher corporate taxes overall, but the exact same argument of reality being price hikes for the end buyer can be made going that route.

it's true that trump ran on a populist platform in 2016 but this was not included or at least not at all prioritized in the recent campaign cycle. if it was, it was only messaged in passing or in a vague manner and in no way conveyed the extreme, broad-based route that he's taken.
trump may also have a genuine belief in his vision for america-first in regard to trade but his implementation is sloppy - large scale blanket tariffs aren't going to be sustainable in the long term nor will it work in any significant way against an economic machine such as china. they'll turn elsewhere in the same way that Russia did when we sanctioned them to the bone. there's no way China will allow themselves to be embrassed again on the world stage after their hundred years if shame.
what you'd like for these tariffs to be so far haven't demonstrated to be so. they've only been used as a leveraging or bullying tool against weaker, more fragile economies in an attempt to get some 'deals' or optic wins that are most likely in effect mediocre at best. targeted tariffs would make much more sense if trump wanted to implement them in a way that adheres to his long term vision but these as they're set up now sure ain't it.
Do you understand that tariffs are a fee for companies to pay on the initial value of their imported product and not a fee for the Chinese govt?

It's been like two weeks right? If you think the coming deals with the EU and China are just for optics then there isn't much point in discussing it, as the only thing that could prove you wrong will happen over time.
In Europe they have both blanket and targeted tariffs set in specific deals, why can't the same thing work for the US? You literally can't export anything to the EU without paying a tariff, what's the technical reason this wouldn't work for the US? They'll even tell you directly on official EU sites why they do this:
Through the tariff, the Community applies the principle that domestic producers should be able to compete fairly and equally on the internal market with manufacturers exporting from other countries / territories.

So the thing cited from the White house was to show that it's very much still a talking point that previous politicians sold out the US, it was literally mentioned in the sub header of the recent press release on tariffs while TheMan was presenting it as "an unpleasant truth for MAGAs", which is of course completely ridiculous. If there's one thing MAGAs love to talk about it's how shitty previous politicians have been. dude you just seem to be very overly optimistic about all of this while the reality is this tariff implementation is sloppy, uncalculated and unpredictable. one minute they're on then they're off, they're at a set percentage and then they're not, no exemptions oh no but wait these exemptions. there's zero stability. trump's basically just throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks. what are we trying to accomplish here? if the trump administration would take a breath and put together a targeted and intelligent plan to bring back specific manufacturing industries then i'd be all for it because there's no doubt and I fully acknowledge that trade agreements, nafta in particular have been hurting us for a long time (still to this day) and that we have a broken trade system but like I said - this ain't it jack. i give trump credit for bringing this issue to the forefront but it ends there.
i guess we'll see though, won't we? maybe trump will change tariff policy bigly tomorrow or the next day only to switch it up again the following week. no one here can plan around this chaos. meanwhile china is making moves mobilizing their industry in full force in order to weather this storm. "There's too must instability, he's too unpredictable..."
When you sit down at the poker table, things don't always go according to strategy. It's not like he's teaching 1st grade math here, he's going toe to toe with world leaders and trying to bring them to heel. He's throwing punches and he's taking punches.
If he blows our entire chip stack and bankrupts the country, then fine you have my permission to point the finger. In reality though the poker game is still being played and we still have plenty of leverage. The stock market is not the be all and end all when it comes to the economy, and like always that too will come back.
The "strategy" is short term pain for long term gain. I don't expect everything to go 100% smoothly.

Why shouldn't his voters give him the benefit of the doubt? It's why they voted for him. They wanted him to be a tough negotiator.
I don't really think Trump has to worry about poll numbers. He's been defying the odds and proving polls wrong his entire career. He also knows the democrats are insanely weak right now too so he has way more room to move and fukk up.

dude you just seem to be very overly optimistic about all of this while the reality is this tariff implementation is sloppy, uncalculated and unpredictable. one minute they're on then they're off, they're at a set percentage and then they're not, no exemptions oh no but wait these exemptions. there's zero stability. trump's basically just throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks. what are we trying to accomplish here? if the trump administration would take a breath and put together a targeted and intelligent plan to bring back specific manufacturing industries then i'd be all for it because there's no doubt and I fully acknowledge that trade agreements, nafta in particular have been hurting us for a long time (still to this day) and that we have a broken trade system but like I said - this ain't it jack. i give trump credit for bringing this issue to the forefront but it ends there.
i guess we'll see though, won't we? maybe trump will change tariff policy bigly tomorrow or the next day only to switch it up again the following week. no one here can plan around this chaos. meanwhile china is making moves mobilizing their industry in full force in order to weather this storm. nonetheless, just wait until the price increases hit and trump's poll numbers plummet. it'll be interesting to see what route gets taken then.
like i said - this so called policy isn't what you're wishing it were. either that or you're confused or in denial about it. frankly it sounds to me like you're suffering from a mild case of trump enslavement syndrome here, with all due respect brother.

Dementia Donny does what his handlers tell him. Is anyone tired of the :winning" so far? It just begun...

I don't think I've been super positive about anything, my angle into this thread was simply to call out people for doomerism 2 weeks into like a 20 year project. I do see it as a positive that they lowered tariffs to 10% for countries willing to negotiate a new trade deal and if it was reported in the media as a positive gesture instead of them being unpredictable and cHaOs, most people would see it that way too.
It's easy to only focus on the short term negatives as they're mentioned over and over in the media and always short sighted. Getting general inflation down will help make up for any potential price hike caused by tariffs. E.g "oh car prices are about to jump", but if gas prices are 20% lower for the duration you have the car than they otherwise would've been, how much more expensive will your car really be? There's absolutely no mentioned or talk about these kind of positives, only the negatives.
For the rest, I don't think I have much more to say than what Baller already said.
I'll ask again though, what's the reason blanket and specialized tariffs work for a union like the EU, but will cause an economic destruction of the US? Is there any other reason than "I don't trust Trump" to be the one to do it"?

Trump and his goofy economic policy team are the reason. EU imposes its own tariffs and has its own trade agreements like most nations have, including the US. What the EU doesn't have is an idiot who rips up agreements overnight and does whatever he feels like. He doesn't even understand how tariffs and the economy work in general, and there is no greater example than him attacking Powell for refusing to cut interest rates. A move that would bring about the exact opposite effect of what you want and increase inflation.

two weeks into a twenty year project... we'll sure see about that. in addition to the question of it's longevity, we'll see if trump and his advisors can adapt and react the way baller321 claims they can. the way the tariffs are layed out now isn't sustainable in the long run and any "short term" pain is going to be a hell of an understatement for those barely making ends in both their personal and small businesses. prices are going to *ucking skyrocket, particularly out of china. gonna be very interesting to see where all of this goes (no sarcasm).

there's too many variables at play here to make such a generalized statement. one major turn of events would be trump taking us to war with iran. then those gas prices you speak of will be no *ucking joke. you're gonna see more bikes than cars out there on the streets if that's ends up being the case.

Anyone with half a brain can see that tariffs alone won't bring back manufacturers, that's a half assed solution. On top of that, we have full blown austerity by the federal government when you have to heavily invest in a reindustrialization program to bring back jobs...instead jobs and programs are being slashed so that Trump and his oligarch robber barons can justify yet another tax cut for themselves.

I saw a great video a while back by a top economist, can't recall his name but in a gist, tariffs won't do shit bringing back jobs, the government needs to create programs that target what industries they want back, and this will take time, it's not a matter of weeks or months or even a couple years, this should be seen as generational program...but I digress, nobody in America wants to do textile work, those aren't really worth bringing back but high tech industries, for the security of the US should be in America, plus they would be high paying jobs. Quick rundown and I'm trying to remember off the top of my head, you need to heavily invest in research and development, subsidize industries, offer tax incentives, loan guarantees, educate workers for these high skill positions etc., Trump is offering absolutely none of that, bullying other countries and trying to force US companies back won't be done by only tariffs, that's actually punishing our own population, bro. The fed needs to spend a lot for this to happen but it's worth it, also we're far behind in infrastructure, that needs to change. Tax cuts for the rich is insane and it's doing the complete opposite.
I'll try to find the video, it's long but it's really thorough, using historical and recent examples of countries doing just that. We need to move away from being a consumer based economy, we spend more than what we produce, and it's not even close. That's what frustrating, I don't want us to lose this trade war but we do not hold the stronger cards in this and we're doing jack shit in strategies that actually have been proven to work...what Trump is doing raises the risk of a depression so bad it'll be back to 1930s America all over again...but then again, this is what late stage capitalism looks like.

First you insist that Trump just wants to cut taxes for his billionaire buddies and it's so terrible, but in the next breath you insist we should give those same billionaires tax incentives and loan guarantees so they keep their production in house. Which is it?
:oldlol:
Newsflash genius, so long as it's cheaper to produce goods out of the country, people are going to take advantage of that. And if you would rather America invest in it's own infrastructure, why wouldn't you want us to use outside money? You're complaining about spending cuts but again in the next breath you want us to just invest all this money. Where is it coming from?

Dude, the tax incentives I'm talking about aren't tax cuts to the rich like Trump and the GOP want. The tax incentives I'm talking about have a purpose, bringing back jobs and requires employers paying US workers good wages. Tax cuts today don't require any of that, it's supposed to encourage trickle down economics but that neoliberal economic plan has been a complete and utter failure.
And if I'm parroting others words, I'm using reliable sources from economists that have studied countries that effectively grew industries in their countries. Your parroting a doofus who bankrupted casinos :oldlol:

Yea sorry, you're not making any sense whatsoever. You can talk in circles all you want, it's not gonna work.
Large corporations already receive significant tax incentives from federal, state and local governments. Just look at Amazon. They get all sorts of tax incentives and tax abatements because they create so many jobs and provide such a boost to the local economy. How is that any different from what you're proposing? You're saying the solution is give these corporations MORE incentives? That's gonna solve everything?
:oldlol:
Also, while we're at it, I'm not sure what you hope to achieve by trying to paint Trump as some sort of failed businessman. That would be like trying to paint Michael Jordan as a failed basketball player. He's one of the most successful businessmen of our time. I know you have an irrational hate boner for Orange Face but you really strip yourself of all credibility when you say stupid things like that.
Trump is behind countless business ventures. He has his hand in real estate all across the globe, golf courses, resorts, entertainment and media, branding and licensing, etc. I'd say he's done pretty well for himself but you would rather hyperfocus on his failures. Again that would be like criticizing Michael Jordan in a game because he didn't make every shot and only went 14/20.
It reveals that more than anything, your opinion and your worldview isn't really informed by facts or logic, but rather your seething hatred of Orange Face because you think he's the antichrist.

In a proper capitalist society, textile work would pay well. It would involve high tech equipment, but since it is necessary, people would get paid from it. Just like welders and plumbers make decent money now if they do it well. You have to get rid of the export it to slave labor option. Just like you gotta get rid of the exploit migrants option. Things need to be re-valued, and the good part about a tariff (alho I’d prefer it be toward the company selling not buying) is that it decreases the profit by doing such. There should be humanitarian tariffs at least.
Dunno how this whole trade war is gonna work out, but we do need to make our own stuff. Keeping people who live in tiny apartments and paying them dog shit here seems more responsible than them getting slaved overseas, but the cost to even be alive is more here. Why? Our economy is more balanced, simply. The value of work should be roughly equal in the ideal. The difference would be resources and technology.

You don’t. You delegate manufacturing to Bangladesh and Vietnam and focus on value added industries like ai, chips, energy, finance etc. Why do you think Nike wants to open sweatshops in these countries but keep their base of operations in a much more expensive country like the US? Because stability is worth the extra cost. If we keep playing grab-ass with tariffs it will hurt our credibility and stability and dissuade domestic investment in the long run.

No you dummy. I want the US and China to continue trading. If America wants manufacturing jobs back in America, doing it the smart way, tariffs alone won't do it, you aren't this stupid to not realize this.
As a US citizen, I would love for Trump to be successful, but my gut told me he would be an unmitigated disaster...again. Dude is polling 38% on his handling of the economy...on a Fox News poll. He's well on his way to 30 something percent approval ratings, which I predicted, only he's getting there much faster than I thought.
Lol not only do you think America should outsource all it's jobs, your own opinions are outsourced. :oldlol:
Your opinion essentially boils down to "Trump is doing bad on the economy because I saw a poll on TV". If it's not that it's "Trump is losing the Trade War because state run Chinese media said so".
Before I asked you how to bring back jobs to America and your brilliant plan was to lower taxes on corporations and give them more privileges. Well clearly that hasn't worked. As long it makes fiscal sense to outsource jobs, people are going to. That might be good for their bottom line, but it's not good for America.
If you want America to be your base of operation, there should be an incentive to keep everything in house. Not only do we need the jobs, but we need to not be dependent on other countries. We need to be a productive country again and not just outsource everything. It would enrich the country and enrich everyone living here as a result.
What exactly is the problem here?? Even if we don't fully attain this goal, isn't this something we should be striving for??

two weeks into a twenty year project... we'll sure see about that. in addition to the question of it's longevity, we'll see if trump and his advisors can adapt and react the way baller321 claims they can. the way the tariffs are layed out now isn't sustainable in the long run and any "short term" pain is going to be a hell of an understatement for those barely making ends in both their personal and small businesses. prices are going to *ucking skyrocket, particularly out of china. gonna be very interesting to see where all of this goes (no sarcasm).
Well it took like 60 years to move all those jobs to Asia, so it's going to take a while to get some of them back again.
The way tariffs are laid out now won't be how they're laid out once new trade deals are made.
there's too many variables at play here to make such a generalized statement. one major turn of events would be trump taking us to war with iran. then those gas prices you speak of will be no *ucking joke. you're gonna see more bikes than cars out there on the streets if that's ends up being the case.
Do you only assume that negative things will happen in the future?
i can't tell you why. you tell me bro (again, no sarcasm or passive aggressiveness here). but it's not only just 'i don't trust trump' - it's that i don't trust any moth3r****er - especially the mf'ers in washington whomever they may be. everybody's either influenced by ideologies and ego or bought off by somebody or something but i hope for everybody's sake you and anyone else putting stock into this endeavor ends up being right.
Because tariffs are a natural protection for local workers, they work that way for all other countries and will the same for the US. Brings the price of cheap imports closer to more expensive locally produced products.

I mean which conspiracy minded people are you referring to? You have to specify. When Trump first talked about the vaccine, the most vocal group in opposition advocating for people not to take it were democrats.
So you're all but admitting that Biden, Harris, Cuomo and all the top democrats at the time... including their cohorts in media... were trying to scare the public into not taking a life saving vaccine.

Plenty to criticize Trump for, like not considering excluding tariffs on auto parts or various electronics to begin with.
Wiki says your timeline is off.
February 1: President Trump increased tariffs on China by 10%.
February 4: China responded with a 15% tariff on coal and liquified natural gas products, and 10% on crude oil, agricultural machinery and large-displacement cars.
March 3: President Trump raised levies on Chinese goods by another 10% to a cumulative 20%. He also implemented new 25% tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada, thereby initiating new trade disputes with the three primary US trading partners.[252]
March 4: China retaliated by imposing a 15% tariff on chicken, wheat, corn, and cotton originating in the United States;[253] and a 10% tariff on sorghum, soybeans, pork, beef, aquatic products, fruits, vegetables, and dairy products originating in the United States, effective on March 10, 2025.[254][255]
April 2: Trump raised the tariffs on China by another 34%, after accusing China of tariff and non-tariff trade barriers of 67% as part of his reciprocal tariffs policy, expressed during his "Liberation Day" speech.[256][257] The White House confirmed tariffs would stack on top of previous impositions, resulting in an effective tariff rate of 54% on all Chinese imports to the US beginning in one week.[258]
April 4: China announced that it would impose additional tariffs of 34% on all US goods effective April 10.[259]
April 7: Trump threatened to impose an additional 50% tariff on Chinese goods on April 9 if China did not withdraw its retaliatory measure of a 34% tariff on all US goods by 8 April. This would boost the effective 54% tariffs on China on April 9 to 104%.[260]
April 9: China responded with retaliatory tariffs of 84% on US goods.[261] In response, Trump increased tariffs on Chinese goods to 125% on the same day. However, the White House clarified the next day that the tariff rate had risen to 145%.[18]
April 11: China, in retaliation, announced an increase in tariffs on all American imports from the previous 84% to 125%, set to take effect on April 12.[262]
April 11: The US announces reciprocal tariffs will exclude consumer electronics from tariffs from most countries, but retains a 20% tariff on electronics from China.[263]
April 11: China suspended exports of a wide range of minerals and magnets critical to auto, defense, aerospace, and semiconductor industries; the Chinese government plans to introduce a new regulatory system to prevent access to American companies.[264]

What more proof do you need that I'm not a blind Trump follower? I'm not the one who's vaccinated. You are.
I told myself from the jump that I wasn't going to get vaccinated when Trump was in office. Didn't matter if he was behind it or not. What do I remember though is democrats swearing up and down that it wasn't going to be safe. The most prominent figures in the democratic party were the ones repeating this narrative. You all know it. You were there. This was the gameplan for democrats all the way up until November 2020.
By January 2021 a mere 2 months later the dems were singing the complete opposite tune. Now not only was the vaccine Safe & Effective(TM) but you were a bad person for not wanting to get it. You're a racist, a bigot, a plague spreader and you wanted to kill everyone around you.
So I'm sorry Bill Gates but you can't have it both ways. If you genuinely approve of the way Trump handled the vaccine, which you just admitted, then that means by default the democrats were committing an act of unspeakable evil. They were trying to scare the average american from taking a potentially live saving vaccine purely over politics and not wanting the other guy to score the W.
So let's see who's in the cult:
Baller234
- Said no to the vaccine when Trump was president
- Said no to the vaccine when Biden was president
Sheep Democrats
- Said no to the vaccine when Trump was president
- Said yes to the vaccine when Biden was president
Now you're claiming you never said no to the vaccine even when Trump was president. Okay so by that rationale the democrats are evil scum fukks who intentionally deceived the public and played politics with people's lives.
Yet here you are still carrying water for them...

You are a clueless sheep.
China isn't talking with Trump or negotiating. While Trump is sitting around lying about xi calling him and lying about ongoing negotiations, China flat out said they are not calling Trump and won't be backing down and urging all developing markets to not deal with Trump.
China vows to stand firm, urges nations to resist ‘bully’ Trump
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said appeasement will only embolden the “bully” at a BRICS meeting, rallying the group of emerging-market nations to fight back against US levies.
China’s top diplomat warned countries against caving into US tariff threats, as the Trump administration hints at the possible use of new trade tools to pressure Beijing.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said appeasement will only embolden the “bully” at a BRICS meeting, rallying the group of emerging-market nations to fight back against US levies. The stern remarks show China intends to resist pressure to enter trade talks even as US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent suggests Washington could ban certain exports to China to gain leverage.
Wang’s call to the international community underscores China’s attempt to portray itself as the bastion of free trade as US tariffs threaten to reshape commerce globally. Beijing has repeatedly urged allies to defend multilateralism and told other governments not to cut deals with the US president at China’s expense. China has repeatedly denied being engaged in trade talks with the US. Instead, Beijing has demanded mutual respect and a cancellation of all tariffs before any negotiations.

I think China lies to it's people just like America lies to it's people.
Let's be honest, if for whatever reason Trump were losing the poker game, it's not like he would ever admit it. He can't. That defeats the purpose of the game. The same applies to China. Both sides are going to spin W's as L's and L's as W's.
The people on this forum rooting against Trump right now aren't really concerned about the stock market. I doubt they even have much money in the stock market. I'm also guessing that mostly everyone here is far from retirement age. So don't tell me that now all of a sudden they have a personal stake in this when just a few short years ago they were the ones on the other side doing everything they could to wreck the economy. Not only that, they did with glee and with a smile.
All in the name of saving lives of course, just not during protest season.
Is the 4chan community promoting sinophobia these days? :ohwell:

We got them right where we want them, no need to lift tariffs at the moment. Stock market is looking better while China is taking a big hit (which isn't being reported by mainstream media) Patience is key. Once India signs the trade deal with us, which seems very likely, along with other countries, this will only give us more leverage against China.

Senior U.S. officials have reached out recently “through relevant parties multiple times,” hoping to start negotiations with China on tariffs, a spokesperson for the Commerce Ministry said in a statement Friday.
While assessing the possibility of starting any negotiations, Chinese authorities reiterated Beijing’s request for the U.S. to remove all unilateral tariffs. Failure to do so would indicate “an outright lack of sincerity” from Washington and “further compromise mutual trust,” according to a CNBC translation.
“If the U.S. wants to talk, it should show its sincerity and be prepared to correct its wrong practices and cancel the unilateral tariffs,” according to the statement.
Looks like China has all of the leverage here. Why don’t you people ever read your own sources.

That’s not the conversation. The source you linked implies heavily that China has the leverage since they’re being asked multiple times to trade negotiations, and China replies in order to start trade talks US has to rescind the tariffs. Stop trying to change the subject and admit you don’t read your own sources. You read the title, arrive at the conclusion you want from it, and assume everyone else is just as dumb and lazy as you when you post it as one of your “wins”.

The US will take back the tariffs, and naturally the economy will improve because of it. Trump will celebrate it as a win and claim the tariffs was 4d chess to get them to the negotiating table where he was able to get better terms for it, which in reality are slightly worse terms and all he really did was undo his initial ****up.

This isn't caused by the trade war, but by hypercapitalism and China's insane population. The average chinese student is much more well-read and capable than the average american... by a lot... and that's why when you look at the top tech and engineering sectors they'll make up the majority of them. Competition in China is unfathomable to most who haven't lived there and seen it first hand. Makes American competition look like child's play, which is also why I don't like the US headed in that direction. China has no social security to fall back on which increases stress and pressure to save, which we're quickly heading toward as well. And the 996 that gets mentioned in the video? That means you work from 9am-9pm, 6 days per week. If you have a 1 hour commute, you're left with just 10 hours in your day so if you literally just eat, work and take care of personal hygiene the average person is still going to be short on sleep despite no hobbies or self care(like going to the gym). Not to mention someone with a masters in shanghai is probably making ~10k yuan/ month(yuan is about 7 to the $1) and a bowl of cheap takeout noodles is like 35 yuan there, so you're working super hard and can't even enjoy anything of quality. An average newer high rise flat is about 10k/mo by itself; you would imagine someone with a good job should be able to afford it, but it's not the case. So if this is your life, and you're one of the fortunate ones with a masters degree to even get that job in the first place, then why bother? That's what the 'lying flat' protest is. Less production and doing the minimum until you guys pay us. Obviously, like the video says, not everyone can afford to do that either.
But if I'm a billionaire and I want the most production which results in the most profit? You bet your ass I want the American work force to become more like China's.
