This is gonna be a great matchup, and the only thing this pointless formality that is the Eastern Conference Playoff Rounds 1 and 2 is doing is risking potential injury to players in the Cleveland-Boston series.

Let the Pacers and Knicks play a consolation series while the early West rounds are going on, and then align the conference finals' schedules when it's time.

We dont need to see two full rounds of series in the East with absolutely zero doubt regarding the eventual outcome. It's an unnecessary hazard for the players.

The only problem is that the fans still want to SEE Lebron win. Maybe we could still make it work by producing an AI-generated video simulation of the playoff games. That way we could all watch Lebron dominate the competition without the formality of actually doing it in reality (which he 100% would)

This isn't true. The first round had a best of 5 matchup from 1984 until 2002. Silver wasn't even working in the NBA at all until 2006 where he was deputy commissioner and chief operating officer. Before working in the NBA he was an associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore and previously served as a law clerk to Federal District Court Judge Kimba Wood in New York.
