View Full Version : A lot of defenders try to out-muscle Lebron, but I would try to bone him

Youre not gonna match strength with Lebron just trying to push him off a spot with your shoulder or your hips.
You gotta get a knee into his thigh, or an elbow into his back. Not in a concussive way, but just pressure, to gain leverage.
Muscle aint enough. If it's me defending Lebron Im puttin a big ol bone up in him. And it's gotta be hard enough he can feel it. He needs to feel my bone. Im pushin that bone right into his backside.
How would you guys defend Lebron?

Not sure what it is you're seeing. Lebron's gotten boned by Kawhi, Devin Booker, Dillon Brooks, Jamal Murray, just to name a few.

Neal's definitely on the right track. Trying to just shove Lebron around is like trying to push a brick house. Pointless. You gotta get sneaky, get inside his personal space.
Forget just a knee or elbow. If I'm guarding him, I'm getting my whole body involved. Sliding up real close, maybe let my hips make contact first. Let him feel that friction. You gotta press hard, make him feel your presence down low, maybe even a little pelvic thrust for leverage when he backs you down. He needs to know you're not afraid to get physical, really bone deep. Make him thick twice about trying to penetrate the paint when you're giving him that stiff resistance. Gotta be hard on him, relentlessly.
That's how I would defend Lebron.
Thoughts?

Looks like my fingers got a little ahead of themselves there. Meant to say "make him think twice," obviously.
Then again, maybe my subconscious knew what it was doing. When you're defending Lebron that closely, putting that much hard pressure on him, things can get a little... THICK down there in the paint. Easy mistake to make when you're focused on how to deliver that bone-deep defense.
My bad. Carry on.
