He just came back from a blood clot. Tough break.

My mother helps people rehab from injuries as a therapist. She has told me that Achilles tears are often the result of someone going from little physical activity to strenuous exercise. Lillaird going from the relatively little activity he would have had while on blood thinners to ramping up for playoff basketball ahead of schedule likely qualifies. Just something else an athlete has to think about the next time someone wants to come back as soon as possible to help the team unfortunately.

Modern medicine keeps finding new ways to be impressive but he may not be at his new normal until he's 35 or 36. What is he going to be like? I can't imagine he will be an elite scorer any longer. If he's even an average player it will be a major victory.

Makes sense, especially considering the play it happened on.

It was a long rebound off a long jumper and he was halfway between the three point arc and half court line, the ball bounced off the edge of the rim towards the three point line and while he was backing up to get back on defense his reaction was to put all his weight on his left foot and cut forward really fast with a lot of force to try to get to the ball. Seeing him do that then seeing him grab the back of his ankle near the Achilles made me think of when Kobe did it. I would've been surprised if it wasn't at least a partial tear.

When he sat there on the ground and couldn't get up on his own he probably knew what happened in his mind.

Well the Bucks got a little better but they aren't winning the series anyways.

Unfortunate. 13 year career not bad for a PG... would have been better if it would have happened prior to going to the Bucks. But speaking of the Bucks, they are screwed. Lillard will obviously opt in 54M contract I would imagine unless there's another team dumb enough to sign a 35 year old PG coming off a major injury to a multi-year deal for a larger sum and/or he wants to bandwagon for a ring.

Multiple players getting clots, and ripping Achilles. PEDs are making muscles stronger, but not doing anything for the connective tissues.
Sucks for Dame. Based on Durant, he’s probably got a future, but who knows.

Durant and Lillard are nowhere near the same type of player to make that assumption. Durant is arguably one of the best offensive players of all time (not necessarily just shooting) because of his skillset and his height. a PG relies on their athletic ability much like a receiver in the NFL. Their window is a lot shorter...

What's the extent of the achilles tear? Kobe ruptured his and came back in 8 months and that was 12 years ago. I expect Dame to play next season and he could be in good shape by the time Playoffs roll around, that's if Giannis doesn't force his way out.

I'm not sure the extent, but it's not like it's not possible to come back and be near how he was before. Durant being the case.

Dame might look like current Mike Conley when he comes back.

Depends. He did jump off his left leg when finishing inside which might be a problem, but he never had much of a vertical to begin with. Should still be able to shoot 3s.

I think Dame could play another 5 years and be better than current Mike Conley :oldlol:
