People forget that Luka was horrendously bad on defense in those 2 first seasons where he was much lighter.

Luka is infinitely better on defense now than he was then and part of the reason is he got much bigger and stronger and could block off driving lanes.

This made me look up Pippen from 1999... His dunk frequency was nearly 50% higher in 99' vs 98', so he simply stunk outside the system that he grew up in - i.e. he wasn't "old" at all, and simply wasn't that good... He was actually banged up and hurt the prior year in 1998, so a healthy Pippen's dunk frequency exploded in 1999 back to 1997 levels.

I wouldn't say utter shit, he played through injury & fatigue and even at his worst still had great numbers in every series, including the Minnesota one. He just needs to get his ass back in shape so he can do it consistently in the 4th again because that's the difference between averaging 30 & 35 a game for him.
