I mean, this guy was Snuggle Bear soft when he first joined the league with girl arms, frail ankles, no defense, and zero clutch gene.
How is the time to hate on him now given the player he had to grow into, and the Olympic summer he's coming off of?

Im not "hating him" Im just pointing out he has a habit of not being the most mentally tough competitor despite his talent and production, and it seems to get swept under the rug far more often than not when people talk about him.
This is a basketball message board. It feels like a reasonable thing to discuss.

He has the 4th highest all-time Game 7 PPG average (32.6). He just carried USA in the 2nd half to a Gold medal. He's not perfect, but I think he's pretty mentally tough and this level of criticism is too much.
This post is painting him as DeRozan mixed with Simmons.

He has a well documented reputation for padding leads and shimmying once his teammates have already done the dirty work to claw out of a hole that Steph's early game absence helped create.
Thats not some narrative I just made up now. It exists for a reason. It's been a pattern.
Anyway thats my perspective and youre welcome to see it differently, but I'll rest my case on the matter here.

Would you rather a player who starts strong and falls off? Or stats mediocre and finishes clutch? I would prefer the latter to get their teammates involved.
Curry is top 10 in both 3rd and 4th quarter scoring. And... just know that before you say something absurd like I want a player who has consistent scoring, just realize that nobody does that. Pick your favorite scorer, LeBron, Luka, Joker, Giannis, Durant, etc. None of them are top 15 in every quarter except SGA who comes close. The others all exist in that list in only 2 quarters. SGA is the closest that lands top 15 in 3 of the 4, and 16th in the other. Every player has their timing.

What Im criticizing is the demeanor. The leadership. The body language.
When it's not going his way he can often be seen pouting, lagging, hanging his head, looking flustered, or trying to act like he doesnt even care at all. He never digs in, he's never tough when the going gets tough.
Numerous times in history his team falls in a hole and his body language is limp and resigned, then while hes on the bench his teammates erase the deficit and Steph comes back in and hits a shot or two and suddenly he's shimmying and making faces and playing Mr Cool.
He can only do that because of the teams hes been on. If hed been a Portland Trail Blazer that kind of leadership wouldnt get him shit. He's a front runner. Plays the hero once it's easy and a lot of the work has been done for him.
Thats the stuff below the surface of the box score that either youre perceptible enough to see or youre not. I guess it's different for everyone.

Yeah, no, totally. I get it now. Youre not emotionally devoted to Stephen Curry, youre just... looking out for me. That's why you respond every time I mention him. Not because you care if Steph is criticized, duh! Was kinda silly of me to imply that :hammerhead: But I get it now. You just wanna help a guy out.

You honestly look like a clown. You emotionally faded Steph in game 4 with no Butler….and Steph had an amazing performance and won the game…you subsequently went ghost. Only to double down and spam the same garbage after the Warriors lost
You want to hate on people for being not being gritty but can’t even face the music on an online forum when one of your poor takes gets blown out the water.

Insisting I "went ghost" or "cant face the music" is simply fiction. I've been right here posting the whole time.
I didnt say omg I was wrong after Game 4 because I wasnt wrong. I never said "they wont win game 4" I said I doubt they could win the series without Jimmy. They're on the brink of losing the series WITH Jimmy for the very same reasons I articulated, so it seems likely things would have unfolded similarly had he remained out. There was nothing to say after the Warriors went up 3-1 because it was only at that point the pressure was on them. And now it's 3-3 going back to Houston. You, tpols, tontoz and the rest of the Curry Fan Club just didnt have the patience to wait a little longer before gloating, and it backfired.
So the cliffs is: I was right about the Warriors, and altho my comments were not directed at anyone particular, youre feeling touched about it due to emotional investment in Curry. If you wanna make something like this personal that's your choice, but this is a bball forum and I'll keep posting what I see. And I'll be here whether Steph and the Warriors erupt for the win or get run the hell out the building. Will we see you around still if the Warriors lose? Or will there be a coincidental uptick in Walk on Water's activity as you quietly take a few weeks off? :confusedshrug:

Hes had like 15 turnovers in the last 2 games. Most of which werent even from passes, just straight up rips while he was dribbling the ball.
Or, ragdolled you might say.
Dray has also been losing his shit and costing his team points as a direct result, which I also listed as an issue.
But hey, the Magic won Game 3 in their series too. So, I guess that invalidates anyone who thought the Celtics were better.
Because, like, thats how intelligent conversations work or whateverz.

It wasn't just a case of picking the wrong winner. It is a.case of Curry dominating a game where you said he would get ragdolled without Jimmy. Do I have to repost it for you so you can remember?
FYI Curry had 8 turnovers in the last two games which is pretty far from 15.

If you wanna interpret it that way, fine. I was making a more general point than trying to predict one specific game, but if Curry waiting til games 5 and 6 to get ragdolled makes you feel satisfied that I got it wrong, so be it.
I made a general theoretical prediction for a SERIES without Jimmy based on what I believed was logical. Thats what I do. And as the sample size has gotten longer, even with Jimmy back, the points I made about pressure and Draymond and Steph have been bending in my direction.
But honestly dude if you wanna feel like you got it right, go ahead. I dont want you angry and emotional. It doesnt do the world any good. I'm pretty confident in the way I saw this series playing out, but if you want that feeling too, go for it. It's just basketball. Theres no reason to make it personal. See whatever you wanna see. It's ok with me.

So your post was about a hypothetical series without Jimmy even though you never mentioned the word series in your post? Cool story bro.
I don't see how Houston shooting 10% better than GS from 3 means Curry got ragdolled but whatever.

Honestly, do you ever predict anything?
You just have safe standard takes.
Its weird for people who dont have much to say to go at people that are able to pinpoint finer details and end up being a little off on a few.
Its clear to me starface sees more / has more to say about basketball than you do tbh.
The only truly dumb thing starface has ever thought, was saying the Will Smith punch was fake. That was a weird take. Youd expect someone to be able to tell based off the facial expressions and dynamics at play with his wife Jada or whatever her name is.

I agree with this but its changed over time.
With age hes gotten more swagger and confidence.
At this point, hes put up a lot of big time performances that you have to adjust these takes a little bit. At least make mention that you basically can divide this into pre and post 2021, Id say.
Its the same with Dimitrov in tennis. Dude was the softest most vulnerable player on the tour. A talent that always fell apart when things got tight. Now in his mid 30s hes finally feeling comfortable and adjusted and is super stable and easy going in crunchtime and big matches.
Ive seen a similar trajectory with Curry.

Nonsense. His post wasn't "pointing out finer details" it was mindless trolling. Curry won a title with Wiggins as his second option ffs. Saying he will " fold up like a ragdoll when the pressure starts to build" in a first round series is Full Court level trolling.
