This is a new era.

How long since Knicks and Pacers were duking it out last time?

The last time was when Patrick Chewing bullied itsmillertime off of ISH.

Brake yourself OP, I'm in talks with commissioner Silver's office as we speak about an exemption that will allow the Celtics to add LeBron James to replace Tatum for the remainder of the playoffs.

This series is still very much alive.

No chance of a compelling Finals now. Nuggets or Thunder will skate to the title. Good for them, although people will call it an asterisk.

NBA is a star driven league and nobody is going to give any single ****s about FTA, Edwards, Brunson or Haliburton.

Ratings might be ok if the Knicks make it simply because Knicks but the overall population is not going to give any single ****s about this.

NBA is trending towards one guy that can drive and kick and a bunch of 3 point shooters. The league is dying despite whatever the $s say.

Every team over time is trending to be the exact same team. The only way to change it is to get rid of the 3 point line entirely.

Shit's gonna be relegated to ESPN 2. :lol

Why are we acting like the Knicks aren't showtime and Brunson is a bona-fide superstar?

Weren't people crying about how boring the Celtics were?

The Knicks vs. Thunder or Nuggets would be an insanely good finals matchup... the atmosphere of NYC in the finals again vs. the young juggernaut Thunder would be epic.

What the hell are you guys smoking?

These last few Finals have been horrendous.

Celtics vs a one man show
Nuggets vs a 44 win team

Now you have the Knicks or Pacers in the Finals, far from great teams. But at least the Knicks are a big market and Brunson is a stud. :lol

I was just gonna post this :lol The Pacers would make for a legitimately uninteresting Finals. but I'd still be into a Knicks Finals matchup. After nearly 20 years as the laughingstock of the league, it'd be dope to see them back in the Finals, those games in MSG would be absolutely raucous.

Knicks/Nuggets imo would be the best matchup we could get of realistic options at this point.

We were spoiled by the 2010's, where we had an intriguing matchup virtually every year. Even the one season where it was a colossal mismatch in 2018, we still got to see god mode LeBron.

The 2020's have been rough, outside of 2022 the matchups haven't been good, even Bucks/Suns I wasn't crazy about.

2010's were alot like the 80's in terms of premier Finals matchups. You had elite to all-time great teams going up against each other every year it seemed from 2012-2017 (minus 2015 because of injuries). Even 2010 was historic because you had the two most successful franchises in history battling it out that went to 7 games.

As others said, a (Conference) Finals involving the Knicks—the biggest NBA market—should be compelling. Even Knicks-haters must have gotten bored by now after twenty-six years of the franchise missing the ECF, not to mention twice as long since winning it all, so that should revive another major audience.

Anthony Edwards—probably the best preprime American-born superstar—should make the WCF interesting if he keeps taking the next step, as could the BITW in Jokic (whose team still has a chance to advance there).

Plus, don't you think a lot of people even outside of OKC would be happy to see the Thunder possibly win it all? They'd probably be the youngest team of all time to take home the Larry O'Brien trophy, and they'd finally get closure after KD jilting them big time.

Maybe it's not NBA Hardwood Classics material, but you can't expect a marque matchup every year; it doesn't mean it'll be forgettable. We just need to get used to a new era where we might not have a face-of-the-league-type player in the Finals every year.

Brunson is exciting to watch.

Small guard, big heart, iso player, hits tough shots over big centers.

A finals would make him way more popular with the general public.

And it would be a good thing if guards looked more at Brunson and less at the 3-point spamming guards. Brunson shows the midrange and post can be effective for a small guard.

Heat were at least the Heat. They have that playoff aura, a superstar/playoff GOAT and the top 2 made the finals 3 years before.

But this year is gonna be a shitshow.

Same in football: PSG vs. Inter. Big names but no superstars really or no established ones. Wont generate any hype or all time discussions. Just upset several teams.

I mean I said before Den-Minny re-match would be hype.

Knicks Cavs is alright with me. Indiana home games bore tf out of me.

But the Finals will be ass cheeks.

Not the conference finals. But an indy-minny matchup in the finals would be so hilarious af if both teams do make it somehow.
