Tatum and 4 1st round picks for Giannis

It's a waste of assets to trade Tatum + 4 first rounders. It couldn't happen unless they're obsessed with Giannis. They're better off trying to find a superstar that they think fits better whose of equal or lesser value. Young talent is so valuable because it's hard to place a real value on it. Celtics are in such a good spot that building up young talent is ideal while they contend for a title. They may not win every year but they're contending. Trading up for higher picks is better than trading for one big player. Trading for multiple assets would yield more value, but like I said they're in a good spot to develop younger talent. They have a lot of player who understand good basketball and will be able to pass that down.

Asterisks ring, but yes a ring.

OP thinks a team will trade one of the three best players on the planet for a guy they hope will be good in a few years, isn't playing all of next year, and will be owed 60 to 70 mil for the next 3 or 4 years because they will be getting 4 future late firsts?

They absolutely should but there's no way in hell they would, nor can they. He's on an albatross of a contract and he's going to be down for an entire season only to then be a question mark if he's ever that good again. Who the hell would trade for him?

Then again, someone not only signed Bradley Beal but then another retard actually traded for him. I guess there's always at least 1 retard.

Bucks are going nowhere with Dame injured. Giannis is going to end up getting disgruntled. Ship him out and tank while Dame and Tatum are injured and stockpile even more picks. Maybe Tatum is pretty good when he comes back and can have some good young guys or flip them for another piece.

Celtics have a payroll of well over 200 Million next year. KP is breaking down with age, jrue is starting to get old, horford off contract, wasting prime years on Brown and White. Waiting out a Tatum injury in 25-26 is horrible for the Celtics. Big time ****ed. Then trying to run it back in 26-27 with a team that is older and more expensive and more broken down at every position? That doesn’t sound good. Celtics are pretty cooked right now.

If they replace horford with giannis and win a championship next year instead of throwing a year away and hoping tatum can come back and be nearly as good

People love to act like I overrate Tatum but I'm not the one saying he can be traded with a torn Achilles for Giannis.

Trade Brown for Giannis. Throw in Porzingis's expirer. Take back some of Milwaukee's trash, like Kuzma, to make the money work.

Save Tatum for the Jokic trade. Its only a matter of time before Joker pulls a Giannis and asks out. Tatum doesn't have enough trade value right now anyway.

Asterisks ring, but yes a ring.

Every ring has an asterisk if you think hard enough.

With how many times people have said it on this site, I couldn't catch it.

Not when Lebron wins them. But otherwise yes.

As far as trading Tatum for another superstar, I believe the Celtics want to pare down their financial obligations regardless of winning or losing. So trading Tatum for Giannis or another max guy seems unlikely to me. If they were to trade JT I think it would be to a team who'd created some cap space, and could therefore send less than full matching salaries back to the Celtics. But presumably any interest in trading for Tatum is going to dip given the injury.

It's impossible for any of us to know exactly who's gonna be available and what offers do and dont exist, but I think it is safe to say Brad Stevens knows what he's doing and is gonna make whatever deal is best, within the context of any mandate ownership gives him.

I’m just figuring they are already in cap hell and things are about to explode sooner or later. With Giannis they could win another championship next year rather than wasting their already closing window. If they basically punt next year there is no guarantee at all about how good of a chance they have in 26-27 trying to run it back with post injury tatum and an older, more expensive roster.

If they were able to get it done somehow it would make more sense to go for it hard next year with giannis.
