Apparently the ref didn't realize Chet was fouled until 5 years after he missed the layup. Normally I would chalk it up to an honest mistake or a delayed reaction but Joker purposefully went out of his way to avoid contact so I have no idea what the ref thought he saw.

You don't call that foul unless you want to.

I agree they shouldn't do that. But if we had robots that called every single play correctly you'd be shocked how often the whistle would be blown.

I think the refs largely do a decent job but yea they suck sometimes.

The only reason Chet's body is "twisted" is because he tried drawing contact and Joker outsmarted him by not engaging.

Can’t be a foul. Chet was expecting contact from jokic while going up, which is why he jumped into him.

But jokic backed off, making Chet fall the way he did, using all his momentum on which would’ve been onto jokic if he hadn’t slowed up, forces him to awkwardly fall.

Sad part is I've seen worse because Lebron doesn't get touched and they call a foul. Many times the refs have made clear errors in the playoffs. League office doesn't care. They're popping bottles to ref whistle it would seem.

You're aware that the clip I provided in the OP includes a slow motion replay right?

I was nearly 100% certain the entire board would agree. Genuinely shocked to see that there's a single person here, let alone multiple people, who think that was a foul.

It wasn't even one of those fouls that's open to interpretation. There wasn't any contact period. That's why the ref didn't blow the whistle until after Chet missed and fell to the ground. The reaction is what compelled the ref to blow the whistle, not the play itself.

It's scary hours on the ISH forums when people are convinced that was a foul. Might as well just ban defense and have the teams compete in a free throw contest.

Yolk pulled the chair on him and still got called. Shameful.

That was actually an example of his high IQ defense. Chet braced for a lot of contact and when he didn't get it and the chair was pulled, he fell down. That's a high IQ chess move.

I thought the same thing but we're in an era where every play down there is about a 40-50% chance you could be slapped with a phantom foul so they were probably saving it for the end of the game.
