View Full Version : Is the only "4 on 5" ring ever won 1997? (4 ppg on 37% by Rodman in playoffs & 8 rpg)

The Bulls' offense was worse than a lottery team with 101 ortg when Rodman was on the floor in the 97' Playoffs (4 on 5), which is why he wasn't the starter for the 98' Playoffs... Kukoc was the starter, so MJ won with role players at the PF position, and some of them had historic futility like 97' Rodman (it's the only 4 on 5 chip ever won).

This fossil version of Rodman is no different than Ben Wallace in 08' or Shaq in 10'... His role player status certainly wasn't part of a "big 3", which requires three franchise players from 3 different teams to join forces on 1 team - it doesn't include role players that make a team go 4 on 5 to win (unprecedented)..

The 97' Bulls are also the only title team to have only 2 guys in double figures for the playoff run.. I think this is 3-point era only, but it might be of all-time.

PERFORMANCE wise......

Worm peaked in 1996 Finals as he started peaking in ECSF and ECF.

1997 36 YO Rodman was serious liability. The tongue lashing Rodman got from GOAT and Sidekick in post-game presser about "leading bulls in tech fouls". He was just too old and couldn't stay healthy in 1997 season itself missing tons of games.

1998 37 YO Rodman just "checked out" for good. He was done and spent. from vegas trips to WWF fights in the middle of final. Rodman alone could've costed bulls 1998 Championship. The pile of sheet GOAT had to endure in 1998 between Krause, Pippen and Rodman was just other worldly.

no wonder Phil said, this is it, this is the last dance. not even looking at Lock out shortened 1999 season.

It is all time. Next closest is Kobe’s back to back with Pau. Fisher was the third leading scorer on that team with 10.2 ppg in the playoffs.
