View Full Version : Could SGA win Finals if Jaylen doesn't make a single 3 and has 44/0/54 shooting split

That's how MJ won the 93' Finals... The Bulls were facing the #1 three-point-shooting team in the league, but they outshot the Suns because MJ turned into SGA - he shot 39% on 4 attempts, while Paxson and BJ followed suit with 3 attempts each..

The great ball movement and chemistry of the Bulls always kept role players like BJ and Paxson playing well.. Otoh, it was Pippen that nearly caused loss with among the worst shooting splits ever in the Finals, which showed that he couldn't handle additional load and forced MJ to average 41 ppg .. I'm sure that if SGA averages 41 with about 12 PPG in the 4th, he could survive 44/0/54 shooting splits from Jaylen.

Probably. They just beat the champion Nuggets with Jalen shooting 38%, which is like 28% in the 90s.

Kobe is ball dominant and had less than a 40% assisted scoring rate for all of his finals runs (sometimes less than 25% assisted scoring rate).

He also has less titles as leading scorer and half the FMVP's of LeBron.

Troll harder, because the league-wide 3-point percentage was only a couple percentage points less than today's game, and 38% allowed SGA to barely average 30 ppg, while 0% would require 41 ppg like MJ required

Oh no it was 38% from the field, not from 3. Jalen shot 23% from 3.

The FG% adjustment is what I made. Pippens eFG% was 44% while Jalen's was 41%.

So to re-answer your OP, probably not with the exact terms you've described because the game is far more centered on 3s now. But he can win in with a league-adjusted similar level of "bricklaying". As he has shown.

The Bulls were facing the top 3-point team in the league and needed to outshoot them from 3 to win - that's literally how the Bulls beat the Suns - they kept up with the Suns' superior offensive players by uncharacteristically outshooting them from 3, led by Jordan.

So threes were critical in that series, and therefore Pippen shooting 0% was the worst efficiency that a team has overcome in the Finals (44/0/54 splits).

Secondly, MJ beat tons of trashy teams with nothing from Pippen, but can SGA win a Finals that way, or even beat a top 5 SRS team that way???... aka can he carry weak help over top teams or Finals teams?

It required 41 from MJ in a slow-paced series and low-scoring era, so no... SGA isn't capable of that.. It also required setting the record for percentage of team points in 93' and 98... Again, SGA isn't capable of carrying the scoring load (defeat max defensive attention) like MJ... No one is

Then why'd you make this thread?

Then why'd you make this thread?

All of these threads try to demonstrate Jordan's unmatched dominance.. It's been misreported by new media and fans, so these threads aim to be perception-correctors.. They show objective examples of his goat dominance.. I would refer you to the thread "NO ONE SAID the bulls were stacked in the 90's"

No one. I'm just using SGA to demonstrate Jordan's goat dominance, just like I used Lebron and others

Or it could be viewed as a sign of strength by going against the propaganda

coin.. 2 sides

Jordan is VERY clearly the consensus and really almost unanimous GOAT amongst basketball fans. What propaganda? Random YouTube or ISH opinions that you don't like?

I know you won't change because this is just how you are...but come on son :lol

MJ likely would've folded in the Denver series to Jokic under immense pressure to 1 up him. And just getting generally ragdolled and outsniped by Yolk. I wish we could have seen it happen.

Jokic vs MJ would be hilarious. Jokic would completely beat down MJ :lol.

Hilarious, isn't it? Create a thread to argue for MJ over SGA when literally nobody is making it a talking point but him. He's the embodiment of this...
