Remember when the Kings with their Eastern European GM passed on Luka Doncic to take Marvin Bagley instead. Traded him three years later and who now at 26 is on the NBA scrapheap.

Remember when the Kings offered Haliburton to the 76ers in a package for Ben Simmons and the 76ers said no?

Not as bad as that time the Clippers traded SGA.

Kings trading Haliburton wasn’t a bad trade. Pretty even.

Can you prove that was more than an internet rumor? Haliburton said he didn’t hear anything from the Kings about being moved nor his agent. His agent would troll him about being traded but never mentioned Philadelphia. Hali admitted he read the noise on the internet and thought it was true. He even called Georges Niang who was with Sixers at the time and he said he didn’t hear anything about a trade involving him to Philly.

Why is there no confirmed report outside of Internet rumors? Marc Stein reported the Haliburton trade to Indy as it being a shock to the league. Why would that be a shock if he were already offered in a package for Ben Simmons and Sixers turned it down?

I don’t think Kings offered the Sixers a deal. But if you have evidence that shows otherwise that would be helpful.

In a hypothetical situation with no hindsight attached. I liked the James Harden for Ben deal

They made the playoffs and were a top seed without Hali. Surely they could've used his clutchness though. Him Fox and Sabonis could've been a crazy combo.

The Philadelphia Inquirer posted that the Kings were trying to move Haliburton, Hield, Barnes and two picks to Philly for Simmons and Tobias Harris.

The 76ers as usual, the laughing stock of the league.

I dont know anything about the dudes credibility but he does write for the philly paper

It seems logical to me. The stories are posted back in 2022. It's not like Haliburton was a star like he is now and they posted about it just now and to look back and laugh at the Sixers about it fumbling the bag or something. All my reading shows that there were discussions and the Sixers ultimately said no and they pursued James Harden instead and got him because that was their preferred choice. Which makes sense since they were trying to win "now" and let's be fair, Harden was a better player than Haliburton when that trade happened. Haliburton was in his second year posting something like 15/8 and Harden was still posting 21/10.

Absolutely they are. From drafting a dude that forgot how to shoot, or a guy that doesnt care to (fultz and ben) when they could have had Donovan Mitchell or Adebayo. The process F'd itself...

And they have been doing so for years. Trading away Charles Barkley for Jeff freaking Hornacek. Then there was Iggy, trading him away for andrew bynum? They have been the idiots of the league for nearly three decades now.

Some teams have good GMs and can trade well (Lakers as an example), some teams have good scouts and draft well (OKC), and some rare teams do both very well (Spurs, Miami), lastly there are teams that do both VERY poorly... and that's Philly.

How is a team going to have four years of top 3 picks (2014 - 3rd overall pick, 2015 3rd overall pick, 2016 - 1st overall pick, 2017 1st overall pick) and get Okafor, Simmons and Markelle Fultz after Embiid in 2014? They literally had their center piece and couldnt pick the right players...

Haliburton and maxey are pretty much a wash. Playoff Jamal Murray is better than both.

Tyrese is the best passer in the league off the top of my head. I'll give him that

If Hali played like Murray in the playoffs this year, Indy would already been fishing.

Thats the thing about Joksexuals.....They never think you are going to be petty enough to fact check them

Yes thats right ladies and gentlemen....Jokic's 2nd option is better than a PG who led his team to the Finals...... BTW....Alex Caurso

I want to apologize for bringing up jokic in this thread when he had nothing to do with it. Murray had nothing to do with it.

After Alex Caruso shut him down game 7, i no longer feel the need to attack jokic anymore. His legacy has forever been tainted and i will hereby stop attacking him.

Him being exposed for the world to see vs a 6'5 PG. Was good enough for me.

Murray totally crashed out vs OKC.

40% FG and 30% 3pt. And saved his worst games for last. Thats trash. And its not like he made up for it with defense or rebounding.

Name dropping Alex Caruso doesn't work on me. I'm the originator of the Kirk Hinrich Clones thread and Alex was number one on my list of toughest white boys.

I also just realized the hilarious irony that you're now stanning a white NBA player because he played well vs Jokic, when your original gripe and whole mainstay on this website is rooted in the jokic vs embiid debate that you carry a heavy emotional charge for with regards to race. :lol

Ah... the sweet irony of life.

The nice thing is we'll get to see how Haliburton does against OKC.

Yeah nothing pointing to the Kings actually offering the Sixers such a deal. That’s the same rumor I heard back then. But no one from kings, sixers, to actual players are verifying this rumor had any legs. Too many things not adding up. I thought maybe you had something different than what I heard. But it’s the exact same thing. Minus the things I mentioned in my post.

Just to touch on what you said about Haliburton not hearing anything. Haliburton knowing or not doesn't mean anything. He didn't know he was being traded to the Pacers (his own words) until the trade actually went through. That as we all know happened and he had no idea it happened until after the fact. Players get shopped all the time and sometimes never hear anything. I think the rumors are true especially since the Kings and the Sixers during that time period were looking to acquire and trade players at that same period. It's only logical they'd have discussions.

No other sources besides Keith Pompey. Not even the big dawgs in the intel game knew about Ben Simmons for Haliburton? Sounds like more of a speculation trade that people pass off as truth to me. Fox was also on the treble. Guess it’s only logical Ben for Fox was trade that was turned down.
