View Full Version : Why don't we all just admit Lebron's career has been a disappointment

Lebron scored the most points in NBA History. Whatever happened to TEAM? And why do we also not bring up the fact he missed the most shots in history and has the most turnovers? When it comes to Lebron, his fans only tell one side of the story.
3 and 6 in the NBA Finals while getting to play alongside 7 different all stars in a career is supposed to be impressive? 1 million excuses in the world. Not just the fact he lost 6, but got absolutely dominated. Then they'll say that Jordan never could win without Pippen, only to make an excuse for Lebron's absolute failures. Why can't we just admit that this man is an absolute shame?
Played in the NBA for 22 years and has less rings that all stars he's had? Had a negative plus minus this year and still made the 2nd team. I mean what are we doing here? The guy has totally underachieved.
We as fans need to have real standards instead of worshipping this fake, feminine king. I expect better from a guy that gets so much power to trade players and play with 7 All Stars. Yes, he played against the Warriors and Spurs. But so what? If he was that good and had all those all stars and role players he got to pick, he should have done better. LeBUM is a failure.
Have some standards for yourself. Quit being brainwashed. Worship greatness, not fake kings.

There's no denying that he's underachieved. Nobody's achieved less with more. Can you even imagine how many rings Jordan would have gotten with the help Lebron's had?

All time great player with a multitude of hiccups in his career. Disappointment certainly isn't the word I would use but have at it.
For all the shit I've given him over the years, I appreciate the entertainment that he's given me.

There is one person in 2002 who would’ve put money on him having the career he’s had regardless of the hike. Not a single one. Some of the people I was on here with them are still here just pretending others among us. Don’t actually remember what they predicted.
Dudes were here talking about him being Jerry Stackhouse, and how he would be good the way that Darius Miles is good as in he will make spectacular plays and fans who don’t understand the game would think that makes him good.
Watching him in the summer league, I said he could probably do 11 to 15 a game with maybe five rebounds and five assists his first couple years and legitimately had people telling me I was falling for hype.
Nobody has people more consistently lying about what they predicted than LeBron James.
I watched relatively good posters say he would either be out of the league in three years or Lamar Odom at best and then spend 10 years acting like he wasn’t actually as good as Carmelo.
But it’s the off-season which is the home of content generating trolling on alts so I’ll just go back in my hole. Excuse me.

It depends. For those that were saying he'd pass MJ he hasn't quite reached that point, even though the media keeps pushing the GOAT conversation for clicks. For the amount of great teams he's played on they underachieved yeah, but it was going to be impossible to reach Jordan's heights. MJ had multiple 3-Peats, Lebron won B2B just once. He couldn't afford to choke on the Finals stage in 2011. Still, he's the GOAT to many people in his generation so in that sense he met expectations and had a longer career than anyone would've predicted in 2003.

Top 2 greatest player of all time. If that's disappointing, then LeBron is a disappointment for sure.

There’s no universe in which LeBron is better than Kareem or Wilt. You’re only looking at longevity and media awards. And even if he was top 2, that makes it worse for him because with all those superstars he has played with, his winning is not like a number 2 player. Don’t you see how that works? If he’s top 2, he should help his team achieve more.
He’s only 3-6, 4-6. That’s why you make excuses and use alternative routes and say he won without 3 teams, etc.. you have to use alternative routes. He’s still 3-6.

Hater fans have to be the absolute weirdest segment of sports fans ive ever seen. The level of devotion given to someone you supposedly dont like is unhealthy isn't it? To each their own I guess, about the topic we've never seen underachieving be mentioned in the same breath as a guy as decorated as Lebron. We werre told Lebron would be great as a tennager, we scoffed at the notion and now hes been locked into the goat debate for a long time. At this point you're still fighting a war that ended a decade ago. I'll give you a surface level example just to shed a bit of light on how stupidly ridiculous these posts are.
Kareem. Yeah that Kareem, played 20 years right? Played with 8 allstars(and this is only counting guys who made it while they were on his team), 2 rookies of the year, several all nba and all defensive team players and 3 current or former mvps. He played with a guy usually also in the top 5 all-time with him. 6 rings. Less rings than allstars played with right? I've never in all my years of NBA fandom see anyone say Kareem...."underachieved"....because its stupid.

That's interesting. I wasn't on the forum back then, but I remember when ESPN aired his high school game and thinking to myself this kid is going to be phenomenal. Sure enough, as soon as he played his first game in Sacramento, he looked like he was destined to be an all time great.
By 2009, it was clear he would be top 10 and the rest is history. OP is just a hater cause it's all I see him ever posting.

1st thing I said was nah he won't do that against grown men. We had seen high-school players and the learning curve it required once you hit the league. So I think most long term nba fans were just being realistic. He did have that buzz around him but I want to say it was mostly media projected. If you want a good laugh check out the quotes from his cavs teammates about him coming into his rookie year.

Rings in a team sport is incredibly overrated. Lebron isn’t top 1-3 all time because of rings, it’s because of playoff play, longevity and his overall impact on the court. How difficult he is to replace. Example: who can you replace LeBron with in 2015 for the Cavs to steal 2 games from the Warriors, how many goat peaks can you replace LeBron with in 2016 to make that comeback, and how many goat peaks can replicate LeBron’s game 1 heroics against the 2018 Warriors? LeBron has the highest standards of perhaps any athlete in history and that’s because deep down even haters acknowledge the greatness.

How many players have made 10 trips to the finals? I wouldn't rank Lebron over Jordan but Lebron haters are just weirdo's and creepy. Threads like this make you just not want to associate with them because they are so creepy and cringe.

People should be aware that if the Heat had beaten the Mavs in 2011 to get Lebron his 1st ring, it would've been considered an asterisk ring - no one would've respected it... The only reason that people forgot his unprecedented deck-stacking and started to respect his rings is because his historic chokes in 10' or 11' and continued futility made him into a sympathetic underdog... So people forgot that he stacked the deck by teaming up with "Kobe-Pau II", while hand-picking the preseason favorite and having the only super-team in the league.

He did do as well as he possibly could for himself. Pretty much conquered every aspect of life ~ family, friends, career, ultimate lifestyle outside all that... and produced a ton, won a ton... not as much as some, but way more than most. Had impeccable work ethic to keep it all up, taking roids wont give you this longevity. Your eating, sleeping and life habits in general would have to be super sharp. Couldve been a ghetto crashout but ended up one of the GOATs so thats not underachievement.
Watching him in the summer league, I said he could probably do 11 to 15 a game with maybe five rebounds and five assists his first couple years and legitimately had people telling me I was falling for hype.
That's probably because you saw him for what he really was as a player and saw his real flaws. Of course you didn't expect him to hide those flaws with aggressive politics (bron system, PR, leveraging etc) and extreme stat padding.

This post makes no sense. Quite frankly you sound like the hater.
Rings in a team sport is overrated?
Yes it is but not in basketball. You have much more impact in basketball than baseball or even football. The only reason why Lebron fans say rings are overrated is because he can't pass Jordan in rings or finals percentage. Deep down haters know this.
Who can you replace Lebron with in 2015 for the Cavs to steal 2 games against the Warriors?
Maybe James Harden, SGA, Jokic, or Anteteunkeumpo
How many goats can replace the 2016 greatness to create the comeback?
Would Bron had come back if he hadn't got Green suspended and had the NBA give him all the calls for the rest of the series? Those details matter.
Lebron's game 1 heroics in 2018?
What? Didn't they get swept? We're talking about one game? One game? One game? Geez.. How in the heck does he have high standards? He doesn't have ANY standards. One game?!!!
I just debunked everything you said so easily. So how am I a hater? This is 3rd grade level of knowledge.

But I'm speaking facts too. I'm not just making stuff up and lying.
And I never said Lebron wasn't great. But even Ric Bucher said that he has superiority syndrome. Is Bucher a hater too? Are we all just haters?

lebron's game is certainly goat tier but his attitude and actions don't command respect in the way that other goats do. jumping teams, stacking teams, taking the path of least resistance and still not dominating the way other goats would have that actually did it the right way and played against their competitors.
so yeah, he definitely got game but he a b1tch made n199@ is the bottom line when it comes to bron's legacy.

Cavs Lebron and Heat Lebron had the two most epic chokes jobs of all time. Against the Celtics in 2008 and against the Mavs in 2011.
He hasn't been in the GOAT conversation since then.
