Jalen Williams is going to be a free agent next year. Brooklyn Nets have the salary cap to sign him to a max contract.

Im sure the media will try everything possible to get him to leave. To try to help their golden boy jokic. It wont work...someone else will just come along and beat his ass this time. Wemby will be about 22 years old at that time right? Thats about the "goldenlox" age where you become Jokic's kryptonite. Every 22 year old gets their turn with him in the playoffs to start their legacy. Jokic is a stepping stone. a lil fat ass stepping stone.
Im not coming back to this thread so dont bother taking a shot @ embiid. Eat shit

Shams Charania: Breaking: Oklahoma City Thunder star and NBA champion Chet Holmgren has agreed to a fully guaranteed five-year maximum rookie contract extension that could reach $250 million, agent Bill Duffy of WME Basketball told ESPN. After missing three months during the season, Holmgren returned in February and came back stronger to help lead OKC and its young core to the NBA title. The Thunder will now move toward locking in All-NBA superstar Jalen Williams, who has momentum in his rookie extension talks. – via x.com

He would be Caris Levert or dinwiddie on the Nets. No thanks.

Such a terrible take. Remind when LeVert or Dinwiddie made the NBA, defensive or allstar team? Let alone by by 23?
I think Jalen Williams is not a superstar, but he is definitely going to be an every other year allstar for the foreseeable future.
Nets are going nowhere and would be lucky to grab a player of his caliber.

You dont watch the Nets.
He wouldn't move the needle at all. Hes an athlete with shaky jumper and not great creation skill for teammates. Nowhere close to being a 1st option on a viable team, much less a junky one with no help.
Giving him 250 or 300 million dollars just to tank is a terrible take.

Why would anyone watch the current version of the Nets?:wtf:
Amyway, remind me of the long list of stars available to be signed again?
Why are Nets ensuring they have cap space if they aren't going to use it? And if they are going to use it, who better to use it on than a (will be) 24 year old likely 2x allstar?
If next summer they can somehow sell Luka or some other free agent star on NY, and joining up, who exqctly do you think would be a more suitable to sell as a great 2nd option to pair with them? I'll wait.
Or do you think they'll say "Hey Luka, sign with us and we'll take a few more years to build through the draft."
No, a more logical plan is to tank this year, try and get the #1 pick, try and sign a high caliber star like Jalen and if worse comes to worse you build around your rookie and Jalen, or best case scenario you have a 3-headed trio led by a superstar, an all-star, and a likely future allstar number 1 pick. And you sign and trade Cam Thomas to fill out some quality role players.

They wouldnt be tanking if they had an all star to build around. Shot between 36 and 44% from 3 and between 3-5:assists. Getting better every year

The only thing that could make any sense is if tpols is an undercover Rockets fan and wants to see them receive Brooklyn's 2027 First Round pick swap which they owe.
Otherwise, there's nothing close to logical as to why the Nets should not be using their cap space in the summer of 2026 to sign an under 25 year old allstar who fits their rebuild timeline.

Highly unlikely OKC would let history repeat itself. I liken Perkins to Caruso in that you don't let a contract you signed a 30 yr old role player to prevent you from signing your young star. If luxury tax is going to be a problem, they could have easily chosen not to extend Caruso.
99.99% chance they will extend him.

Shams Charani: George, I’m told the Thunder are now fully focused on finishing up Jalen Williams— their All-NBA star guard-forward—extension. There is momentum in those conversations. There have been positive talks, and both sides are aligned on where those negotiations are going.
