View Full Version : The only reason why some think Lebron is GOAT is because they changed definitions

It used to be very obvious that the point was to win and we judged you based on how well you performed when it mattered most. But Lebron comes along and all of a sudden reality is suspended and we started redefining what greatness is. All of a sudden it doesn't matter how many points per game you score, it only matters how long you play to score them. Defense used to be half of the game and Lebron is not allowed to get criticized.

Winning the Finals used to be the point of the game. With Lebron, it became about making the Finals. You were supposed to stay on one team and win and with Lebron he joined superteams and it was acceptable to tell everyone you have NO HELP. But for other players that joined super teams, you weren't allowed to say you needed help.

Playing 82 games didn't matter anymore. Instead it became about playing more seasons and pacing yourself.

And it's okay to always ask for more help because you're busy competing against your own teammates. It used to be wise to practice hard in practice. Then it became wise to not hustle during the season so you could conserve your energy for the playoffs.

Having the most 40 point games didn't matter, but for some reason the 10 point record became important.

So this is the only reason why people think Lebron is the Goat. They have created alternative paths. Winning championships doesn't matter, losing as the favorite doesn't matter, winning defensive player doesn't matter. And Lebron even said championships don't matter. So of course people strongly believe he's the Goat. He changed the definition of what it means to be the GOAT. And the definition is basically anything that fits Lebron's narrative at the moment. That's all it is.

They've TRIED to redefine things. But the vast majority knows that LeShrivel isn't anywhere near the GOAT conversation. That's why Jordan overwhelmingly wins every GOAT poll out there.

For the minority fringe who say Lebron is the GOAT there are two reaons. Either 1) they are low IQ and don't have the mental capacity to understand the complex sport of basketball, or 2) they are insecure and mentally fragile, and thus are enamored by a famous person who shares their own emotional flaw - i.e. losers attract losers.

This all explains you.

1. You don't know what an advanced stat is

2. Shitting on LeBron makes you feel better about your life. I know you are easily triggered because you routinely post in caps and bold text certain words looking for attention and validation, that is insecurity.

^Bitch is SHOOK.

I've already proven I know what an advanced stat is by defining it. I challenged you over a year ago to define advanced stat...and you STILL can't do it.

Even with search engines and AI, you STILL can't figure out what an advanced stat is. You're just that dumb.

Both Curry and Kobe are above Lebron because they need less help to win.

Specifically, they produce sufficient chemistry to win with "normal" rosters of 1 franchise player, while Lebron's weaker chemistry requires more talent, such as franchise players at 2nd and 3rd option (big 3's).. He needs big 3's to win as 1st option, so he's inferior.

And it's easy to see why Lebron can't produce sufficient chemistry to win with normal rosters... His skillset turns everyone into spot-up shooter, which prevents young player development, chemistry and elite roster construction... Otoh, guys like Curry, Kobe and MJ have expert jumpshooting skill and ability to score off-screens, which allows more sophisticated strategy and chemistry, thereby needing less to win.

That's another lame excuse. Lebron is the GOAT according to him because he feels you can't define an advanced stat. That's the way they like to argue? Is that really the way they wanna take this?

Keep in mind though, 1987_Lakers is also the one who said that the 2020 Heat were a better team than the 2025 Pacers. And he ALSO said that Tom Brady had the most choke jobs in NBA history.

So he really is that dumb.

LeBron beat better teams than Jordan in the NBA finals. Jordan played in the watered down 1990's. And only averaged 21 ppg when he played in the zone defense era. 2001-03

"winning" is the issue here do we value the short window dynasty of Jordan or the long competitiveness of Lebron.

Mikan, West, Russell, Wilt, Bird, Magic all competed for a title every single year they played. Jordan can't say that he had bad seasons. It doesn't make him a loser but the goal posts move with Jordan and then they get moved again when talking about anyone else.

10 scoring titles and 6 FMVPs is hardly a "short window." It's the longest run of dominance since Bill Russell, and hasn't been matched since.

The Lebron haters are so sad in this thread.

Lebron - 4 FMVPs - most post-Jordan.

Lebron - 4 MVPs - most post-Jordan.

Me: Lebron is the second best player in the 3-point era.

Lebron haters: NOoOoOOo, LeBron's BAD, not even top 10 all time. NoOOOOOoOo.

Yes, 4 FMVPs are the most post-Jordan. But still TWO SHORT of Jordan.

However, those most post-Jordan FMVPs do NOT cancel out the most choke jobs of all time.

That's why ranking Lebron in the top 5 is intellectually dishonest. Either than or sheer ignorance.

They only look at one side of the story, never the full story. If Lebron did all this with only having one all star then that would be one thing. But to have 7 all stars throughout his career and still have as many failures as he's had makes a big difference in the context of the story. But I don't believe Lebron would have had more than 1 Championship or maybe never won a championship with just a traditional winning roster.
