Believe it or not 2006 is the new version of this place. Several of us were on the old one. I got here when the main argument going on was Tim Duncan or Jason Kidd for the 2002 MVP and Gobb, Johnnysic, Elite, and a few others still on here were already in the thousands post wise before I showed up.

I was on some of the even more primitive ones before that, but I didn’t really say anything. This is back in the net zero and AOL days when the Internet was so slow you would run your browser without images on a place like this because someone would post a picture and basically destroy your computer.

then I figured out how to make a gif and started being the biggest culprit, but luckily cable modems and DSL were gaining popularity by the end.

I maintain that I am the first person to make that gif of grandpa Simpson walking into the burlesque house and seeing Bart and turning around and walking right out. And if anyone predated me in the use of homer backing into that bush, I’ve seen no evidence of it.

I converted those files myself with stolen software when this was a proper country.

We were swapping files on Emule before the dust settled around the towers.

I showed up in 2002. There was crazy Kobe hype, in retrospect more than was warranted really. I still remember my first post, asking why no one talked much about Pierce. Lots of Vice City talk too. It was my least favorite GTA game. I'm glad to get that off my chest after all these years. :hammerhead:

I was talking to someone online who told me nobody back then would have dared compare any of the other elite guards to Kobe. Meaning Tmac, Iverson, Pierce, and so on. Told me I’d know he was always considered beyond such people and it wasn’t a comparison if I were old enough to remember.

Told me I was lying when I said I was involved in those arguments at the time. 30 year olds pretending to be 40 really can’t grasp that the internet was around 20 years ago.
