View Full Version : The Lebron James Myth EXPOSED

Full Court

I did a little bit of research out of idle curiosity, and I found that Lebron James has been outscored by one or more of his teammates in the playoffs 75 times. Astounding isn't it? I mean, based on the fraudulent narratives that have gotten pushed for years, that just can't be, can it? Oh yes it can.

Again, for those of you who lack reading comprehension: Lebron has been outscored by one or more teammates in playoff games 75 times. In reality, it shouldn't surprise anyone. The guy got the name "LeShrivel" for a reason. Be that as it may...

This alone disproves the following myths about Lebron.

- That he's a great scorer. Sure, he's had great scoring moments, no question about it. But he's a tier below Jordan and the other truly great scorers in NBA history.

- That he's always been surrounded by a bunch of scrubs. Well, if he's been outscored 75 times in the post season by scrubs, what does that say about him?

- That he carries his team. This stat proves that he's done a lot more being carried than he has carrying.

I can't wait to see how 1987_Dudley tries to do damage control on this one. :lol The truth sure does hurt.

LeBron's played in 292 playoff games, assuming OP's numbers are right, that means he's been his teams leading scorer just shy of 75% of the time. Besides Jordan, I'd wager no other player with a substantial sample size, let's say even just 100 playoff games, has led their team in scoring more often than LeBron has.

If anyone is up for the research, the only guy in the top 10 I think would even come close to LeBron would be Hakeem, and of players with 100 playoff games, the only other guy I would guess would be Dirk. I'd bet even a GOAT scorer like KD falls pretty short of that mark as well.

Shaq is #31, Bird is #35, but LeBron gets punished for averaging 28 PPG in his postseason career.

The numbers for Dirk & Hakeem

Hakeem: 68%

Dirk: 63%

So even the two guys I thought could potentially surpass or match LeBron are clearly well below him as well :lol And these are guys everyone would say had less scoring help than LeBron did during their careers.

So that means no one else with a minimum of 100 playoff games besides Jordan would even come close to matching LeBron's % of leading his team in scoring, he'd totally lap the rest of the field.

But Dirk is better than Lebron when playing against Lebron in the Finals.

Dirk 26 points per game
Lebron 17.8 points per game

And Dirk was sick and Lebron made fun of him for being sick. So when playing against each other, Dirk is better than Lebron. That's a fact.

That Dirk one is kind of surprising, I thought it would be higher.

Hakeem at least had Ralph Sampson and Drexler for a little bit and even Barkley in the mix for '97.

Kareem would be up there too if he just decided to retire after 1980.

Chalmers never outscored LeBron in a playoff series. Hell, MJ was outscored by John Paxson in a playoff game, doesn't mean anything.

2 reasons that CARRYING the scoring load matters:

1) carrying the scoring load = facing max defensive attention... So if you can't successfully carry scoring load vs top teams than you can't defeat max defensive attention

2) Carrying the "star" category requires less star help and allows GM's to get better defensive help & role players.

I went through KD's first 3 playoff runs from 2010-2012 and he was outscored by a teammate 12 times. Which means he was the leading scorer on his team 72% of the time. Which falls short of LeBron.

Pretty crazy LeBron was able to outscore him once considering LeBron also has a Magic Johnson role.

We all know LeBron would blow all of these discussed players out of the water if we were discussing assists instead of points.

Lebron can't carry the scoring load on the Finals level (can't defeat max defensive attention), and he never carried weak help over top teams (never beat top 5 SRS team with weak scoring & efficiency from sidekick.

So, according to you (a hardcore mj stan) its better just to take all the field goal attempts rather than plug holes in your teams abilities?
