View Full Version : How do I get paid what I'm owed like in the WNBA?

I'm sure you guys saw the headlines about the WNBA's "Pay Us What You Owe Us" T-shirts from All-star weekend.

As you would imagine there've been jokes circulating on the internet juxtaposing that sentiment against the WNBA's lack of revenue, but let's set that aside.

How can I apply a WNBA approach to myself?

I've been trying to produce content for years. I've started businesses. And I've sacrificed to do it. Lotta nights I slept in my car. I put off having a family. Oh sure, I could have gotten a decent paying job for some exploitative corporation that extracts from society rather than contribute to it. But that's not the kind of part I wanted to play in the community.

I invested a lot of time writing a pretty funny look back on my years in Hollywood (available here (https://www.amazon.com/My-Rise-Top-Hollywood-1/dp/B097XFSZ5G))

I've made videos that are edifying, and fairly amusing.

Now I realize the content is a bit heady, and not just me playing a first person shooter for 90 minutes, or a fight video of a walmart brawl, or some generic influencer giving useless details about their daily life, or all these other kinds of things people like to watch. I understand it's maybe more creative than what most might be used to or interested in. But I still did it. So arent I owed something? If my lovely queens in the WNBA are owed for doin somethin, are not I as well? There's people that have dumb random accidents that go viral and suddenly everyone's throwing money at them. Some chick pretends to spit on a dick during a street interview and she's launched into the stratosphere. I'm not trying to take away from anyone else, I'm simply asking arent I owed something too? I put my time into something. I'm making an effort. Seeing the t-shirt logic of the WNBA allstar game really kind of changed my perspective on this.

I made a lil draft recording of some standup comedy material. Posted here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ot7t5WFYmYk&feature=youtu.be There was a thread posted in the off court forum of some guy who had a paid set and an audience and wasnt even telling jokes. I'm not tryin to knock another entertainer I just wanna see the world make sense. I got jokes funnier than some of these professionals out there. Stories more interesting. How come nobody's paying me?

We got NBA coaches who get paid to lose for a year then relieved of their duties and paid big MILLIONS to lounge at home the next four years.

Does anyone wanna pay me? I'm getting too old for the struggle. I cant keep trying to produce interesting things in spite of financial instability. It was fine when I was younger. But it's not easy when you're older.

When will I get paid what I'm owed? There's trillions of dollars out there in the world, and a lot of it is going to people contributing far less than I am. All I'm asking for is what I'm owed.

If anyone feels they owe me for anything, please, by all means hit up vxsandman@gmail.com on paypal.

Thanks guys.

Also could someone tell me a good place on reddit to post this? I dont know The Reddit very well. Id like to post it in a subforum where theres decent traffic but it's relevant enough to not be deleted.

Thanks in advance.

Axe probably has at least 12 Reddit accounts, so he should provide some suggestions.

As someone with a YouTube channel with a couple of mil, the most important thing is the thumbnail. The thumbnail should also contain something that will instantly let people know that it's you, if you become better known. The best example is Mr. Beast and that dumb facial expression that he has on all his videos. It's very effective.

You cannot have any dead space, that's why jump cuts are very important. In your comedy video, there are parts with dead space. That's a huge no, no.

Unless you have an establish audience, your videos should be like 3 minutes long. There are many times when I see a video that seems interesting, I'm going to click on it, but then I see that it's like 30 minutes long, and then I just move on.

This one is harsh, but nobody cares, that includes your family members. YouTubers with hundreds of thousands of subscribers have talked about how they would give a link to a video to a family member, and they just have no interest in having to go watch a video that they don't know about. It's just not natural. So imagine a stranger.

I'm just going to embed a random MrBeast video, that I haven't even watched, since I don't really watch MrBeast, but it should contain all the answers, if you know how to recognize it.

How long did the average ISHer watch the video before clicking away?

Also, imagine a video with the highest retention ever, but it's from a new YouTuber, with an average thumbnail. No one will ever see it.

panhandling on a basketball forum with 3 active users is wild.

WNBA teams went from something I could probably afford(But not be approved for due to lack of liquid resources after going, broke to make the deal) to expansion fees of like a quarter billion that is a straight payment in cash to the other owners. So I’m not sure what you could do to generate that value going forward

I saw recently there's a trend of fans throwing dildos on the court.
