Machetes have been banned in Australia's state of Victoria.

Butcher knives, cleavers, hatchets, swords and ninja blades are still legal.

As they prepare for the ban, the state is rolling out Machete Disposal Bins and offering amnesty for a limited period so that citizens can drop off their illegal machetes. This includes anyone who might've had one for farming, camping or food prep.

That's right bad guys and evil doers. If you planned on attacking someone with a machete, think again. They're illegal now buster. Please kindly return your machete to the nearest disposal bin. Thanks.

I think this speaks for itself, where Australia stands after they banned guns. Great success there. If machetes were more commonly used to kill than anything productive then it's the same story.
